PIH currently has implementation programs in Haiti, Rwanda, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Peru, Mexico, Russia, Sierra Leone and Navajo Nation. Through our partnership with Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, we support a wide range of programs in dozens of other countries around the world.

Our Work In Sierra LeonePartners In Health (PIH) began supporting the government of Sierra Leone in response to the Ebola epidemic in October 2014. Recognizing the large need for continued investments in the health system after Ebola, PIH is committed to long-term health system strengthening in support of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), guided by the same principles as our emergency response and our work around the world: public sector accompaniment, integrated and comprehensive services, social justice, nimbleness and flexibility, partnership, community ownership, and evidence-based interventions.

In the aftermath of the epidemic, PIH is committed to supporting the delivery of comprehensive health services in Sierra Leone, from the community level to the health center and to referral hospitals. Position OverviewThe Inventory Assistant supports the Inventory Officer in managing the storage, issuance, and tracking of non-clinical materials and equipment in the Kono Non-Clinical Store. This role ensures proper record-keeping, inventory accuracy, and adherence to best store practices, contributing to efficient supply chain operations. The store operates over the weekend, and the assistant is responsible for maintaining sign-in and sign-off records for issued items.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Receive, inspect, and store non-clinical materials and equipment following established standards operation procedures. Maintain systematic sign-in and sign-off records for items issued to different departments within the hospital File and manage stock cards, ensuring proper tracking of stocked-out and replenished items. Conduct routine stock checks and assist in periodic physical inventory counts to verify stock accuracy. Alert the Inventory Officer of potential shortages, overstocks, or discrepancies. Ensure proper bin location assignment and clear labeling of all non-clinical stock.

Follow First In, First Out (FIFO) and First Expiry, First Out (FEFO) principles to minimize waste and optimize stock rotation. Keep the store clean and well-organized, maintaining a safe work environment. Process and prepare non-clinical stock requests, ensuring timely picking, packing, and issuance. Verify sign-out and sign-in logs for issued items, ensuring accountability and tracking usage trends. Check and document all shipments leaving the store, confirming accuracy before dispatch. Assist in loading and offloading deliveries while ensuring proper handling of stock. Maintain a log of weekend transactions, ensuring all items issued or received are properly recorded.

Report any discrepancies, damages, or potential risks to the Inventory Officer for corrective action. Work closely with the Inventory Officer and warehouse team to ensure smooth operations. Execute additional tasks as assigned by the Inventory Officer or other supervisors. At least 1 year of experience in warehousing, logistics, or inventory management. Skills And Competencies Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse handling equipment safely and efficiently. Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Excel, Word); experience with OpenBoxes or other e-LMIS systems is preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and physical handling of stock.

Good communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to carefully monitor and manage controlled drugs, ensuring integrity and accountability at all times. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends when necessary.
