Known for rigorous bottom-up research and multi-year investment horizons, the firm builds trusted relationships with portfolio companies and takes a hands-on approach to understanding businesses at their core.As part of its continued expansion, our client is hiring a hybrid On-the-Ground (OTG) Research & Investment Analyst based in Australia to support its pan-Asia investment strategy.Role OverviewThis is a unique blended role combining qualitative, on-the-ground business due diligence with fundamental investment research. The successful candidate will serve as the firm’s key representative in Australia—conducting fieldwork, meeting companies, uncovering ground-level insights, and contributing directly to the investment decision-making process.The role is based in Australia, with regular travel to Hong Kong (approximately 20–30% initially; gradually reducing to 10–20%) for onboarding, training, and close integration with the investment team.Key ResponsibilitiesOn-the-Ground (OTG) ResearchConduct deep qualitative company research, including management meetings and industry expert interviewsPerform business due diligence focused on operations, competitive landscape, customer behaviour, and market structureGenerate insights by engaging suppliers, customers, distributors, and industry participantsProvide local market intelligence and bottom-up insights that cannot be obtained through financial statements aloneDeliver clear, actionable research summaries to support investment decisionsInvestment ResearchPerform financial and strategic analysis to support the evaluation of current and potential investmentsContribute to thematic research, industry deep dives, and the development of investment thesesCollaborate closely with the investment team in Hong Kong on research priorities and ongoing monitoringParticipate in idea generation and market insight discussions across the regionCandidate Requirements3–6 years of post-undergraduate experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking, or top-tier Management Consulting, or Equity Research experience.Preference for candidates already in Private Equity; however, strong IBD or MBB abd buy/sell side research analyst backgrounds are welcomeStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think independently“Hungry yet moldable” mindset — self-driven, humble, curious, and eager to learnComfort operating autonomously while being part of a highly collaborative investment cultureWillingness to travel regularly to Hong Kong for onboarding and alignment with the investment teamMust be based in Australia long-term (client will build the local setup around the right individual)Why This RoleExceptional opportunity to work with a top-performing long-term investorRare hybrid role combining fieldwork, deep-dive due diligence, and fundamental investingHigh degree of autonomy and visibility within a small, elite investment teamAbility to shape the firm’s on-the-ground insight generation in AustraliaCompensation competitive with current experience and market level
