We are inspired by our purpose of creating accessible modern luxury for real life and sharing it with the world.The RoleWe’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Finance team and support Oroton's growing business. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting critical elements of the balance sheet including Accounts Receivable, Banking and PPE. This role is ideal for someone who has experience working in a fast-paced retail environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is keen to grow their technical and commercial skills across a dynamic business.This is a permanent full-time position based in our Sydney Support Office in Chippendale. Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain accuracy of the general ledger, P&L and balance sheet accounts, including monthly reconciliations with variance analysis.Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes, including controlled cut-offs and authorised journal entries.Identify and communicate financial risks and opportunities to management.Resolve system issues impacting financial reporting by collaborating with IT and external consultants.Recommend and support improvements to finance systems and business processes.Prepare and lodge monthly BAS (including NZ GST) and produce ad-hoc financial reports as required.Respond promptly to queries from internal stakeholders and support the Finance team with ad-hoc tasks.Identify opportunities for automation and process optimisation within the finance function.Build strong working relationships across the Finance team and contribute to continuous improvement.Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Retail Operations, Property, Supply Chain, IT and People & Culture—on initiatives with financial implications.What we are looking for:Degree in Accounting and progress toward or completion of a CPA/ACA qualification.Solid accounting experience within a commercial environment; retail experience is a plus.Strong analytical ability and commercial acumen with an enquiring, problem-solving mindset.Customer-focused approach when working with internal and external stakeholders.High level of IT literacy and a willingness to leverage systems to improve efficiency.Strong understanding of financial processes, procedures and controls.Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the business.Benefits and Culture:In joining Oroton, you will be joining a group of talented, fun and supportive individuals who are all committed to their craft and to the enduring success of this Australian iconic brand.
