Our globally-implemented cash management, payment, e-payment, and self-service technologies reduce the risks associated with handling money business, currently has a vacancy for a Junior Development Operations Engineer based at our office in Midrand, Gauteng.The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which the Junior DevOps Engineer plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.Main Puprose of the PositionAs a Junior DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery and support of production software systems. You will design and implement automation for operational aspects (monitoring, disaster response) while managing availability, performance, and change management within a DevOps team, ensuring standards are maintained.Main ResponsibilitiesSoftware Delivery ManagementPlan and manage the delivery of quality software on time.Plan what you will be delivering and when.Provide daily progress updates indicating progress, risks and issues.Release software adhering to the software release process.Take ownership of your delivery and do what you promised and committed to.Review Business Requirements & Technical SpecificationsTake accountability for automation software designsDeliver comprehensive designs.Deliver safe and secure designs that mitigate risks.Deliver designs that meet business requirementsDevelop Automation ToolsDeliver quality automation tools that:Automate testing, build, deployment and monitoring processes Adhere to coding standardsApply best practicesEnsure continuity of support by means of documentation and accurate release notes.Support Production SystemsProvide 2nd line productions support and monitor production for improvements:Resolve critical issues escalated by 1st line support.Provide accurate feedback to helpdesk.Perform any software changes with the necessary urgency.Continuously improve observability to ensure the uptime and reliability of our applications Weekly Statistics for the product you are assignedHealth and SafetyParticipate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch /region /national safety plans for each year.Participate in safety forums created by company for example safetymeetings and safety talksReport all safety incidents to the relevant peopleDiscuss all safety incidents on all levelsFollow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/ committee/ representative/ managementAttend safety education and refresher programmesComply with safety policies and procedures at workplaceDistribute safety information as and when requiredWear protective clothing all the timeIdeal CandidateQualifications & ExperienceA relevant Tertiary Qualification, preferably in computer science or information systems1 - 2 years experience as DevOps EngineerEffective and efficient in C# / Java.Experienced in Object Oriented Programming, Design patterns and SOLID principles.Experienced in ORM frameworks.Experienced in Relational Databases and SQL.Experienced in RESTful APIs to connect to back-end services.Proficient in git code versioning tools. Familiarity with continuous integration.Able to use APIs and third-party libraries.
