Job Description

We are looking for a Junior Underwriting Analyst. This position plays a key role in evaluating loan applications, verifying documentation, and ensuring that credit decisionsare made in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards. Thisposition supports the underwriting team in making consistent, data-drivendecisions while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, andcustomer experience.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and assess loan applications to determine applicanteligibility, accuracy, and completeness.Verify applicant information including income, employment,identification, and credit data against internal and externaldocumentation sources.Analyze supporting documents such as, bank statements and creditreports to validate applicant data.Apply credit risk policies and underwriting guidelines to makepreliminary recommendations for approval, decline, or escalation.Prepare underwriting summaries and documentation to support credit decisions and maintain audit readiness. Monitor application queues to ensure timely processing and SLAcompliance.Collaborate with senior underwriters and risk analysts to clarifyambiguous cases or exceptions.Communicate effectively with internal teams (customer support,operations, collections) to resolve discrepancies or obtain missinginformation.Ensure compliance with all relevant credit and consumer protectionregulations, including disclosures, adverse action notices, and dataprivacy requirements.Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, BusinessAdministration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 1–2 years of experience in underwriting, loan processing, or creditAnalysis Preferred (internship Experience Acceptable For Entry-level).Strong analytical and decision-making skills with attention to detail. Familiarity with credit scoring, lending criteria, and consumer lendingregulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with spreadsheets, loan origination systems, and CRMtools.Preferred SkillsExperience in fintech, consumer lending, or microfinanceenvironments.Knowledge of automated underwriting systems or decision engines. Understanding of credit bureau data and risk modeling concepts. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Join our Kiwi team!
