Job SummaryReporting directly to a Juvenile Services Shift Supervisor, responsible for providing direct care and supervision to youth in pre- and post-adjudication facilities. Level I of II in Juvenile Supervision.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMEDUnderstands, practices, and promotes the vision of Williamson County Juvenile ServicesSupervises and redirects youth behavior using department trained intervention strategiesMakes intentional effort to engage youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundariesOversees the daily activities of resident to include but not limited to education, physical education, group activities, meals, chores, and visitationPerforms duties necessary for the processing of intakes, admissions, and releases and complete all necessary paperworkCompletes all necessary daily documentation, including youth behavior and progress reportsMaintains a clean and safe working and living environment designated by the facilityReadily complies with department, county and Texas Juvenile Justice Department policy and standardsConsistently models positive behavior and leadership traits to youthMaintains regular and reliable attendanceCommunicates through the proper chain of commandAttends all meetings and trainings as assignedPerforms all other special duties as assignedORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPSReports directly to - Juvenile Services Shift SupervisorDirect Reports - NoPHYSICAL DEMANDSPosition involves performing non-violent physical restraintPosition involves operating motor vehiclesPosition involves using mechanical restraint devices (handcuffs and leg shackles)Position involves prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, and squattingENVIRONMENTAL FACTORSMaximum security facility behind locked doorsContinuous contact with youth accused of or adjudicated for various crimesWork is primarily conducted indoors in air-conditioned buildingMay be required to perform some work outdoors in inclement weather (heat, cold, wet conditions)IRREGULAR HOURSMay occasionally serve on-callRequires flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and/or weekend hoursDeemed essential personnelEssential personnel for emergency situations; discretion of department directorThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
