About The LCSBThe University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character. The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg. We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine – in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines:

computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. Your roleThe successful candidate will join the recently established Chemical and Molecular Neurobiology group, led by Associate Prof. Ivana Nikić-Spiegel. The group studies axonal biology and neurodegeneration, with a focus on chemical biology-based protein engineering, microscopy, and neuroimmune interactions. As a Laboratory Technician on our team, you will support a range of projects by contributing to both experimental work and daily laboratory operations. Your key responsibilities will include:

Performing cell culture and molecular biology techniques, including (but not limited to) the maintenance of cell lines, and primary cell cultures, molecular cloning; and the extraction of biomolecules (DNA, RNA, and proteins)Preparing cell and tissue samples for various experimental techniques, such as Western blotting, proteomics-based assays, and immunostainingConducting labelling experiments on live and fixed cells, as well as tissue samples, using conventional immunostaining and chemical biology-based labelling techniquesAssisting with microscopy studies using conventional fluorescence and super-resolution methods, including live-cell imagingSupporting daily laboratory operations, such as maintaining inventories, ordering supplies, organizing samples, and general laboratory upkeepYour profileA Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) with hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques and cell cultureA background in either cellular/molecular biology or in chemical biology is requiredExperience in either advanced molecular biology techniques or fluorescence imaging is required; experience in both is a significant advantageExperience with neuronal or glial primary cell cultures, iPSC-derived cells, or work with animal (mouse) models is a strong assetFamiliarity with proteomics-based experiments is also an assetA highly reliable and precise working styleStrong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in accurate sample handling and data entryAbility and willingness to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentProficiency in digital data and sample management, and electronic record-keepingProficiency in English (spoken and written) is essentialFor further information, please contact Ivana Nikić-Spiegel:
