By effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community.Reporting To The Manager Of Marina And Harbour Facilities From April Until November, The Labourer Is Responsible For Marina Maintenance And Equipment Operation In All Weather Conditions. Specific Duties May Include, But Are Not Necessarily Limited To:yard services: moving boats using 50,000 KG capacity marine travel lift;installation and removal of masts up to 1000 KG to/from sailboats using articulating crane;towing boats using marina outboard powered workboats, move boat cradles, trailers and blocking materials using front end loader, tractor, or utility vehicle; assist customers by lifting outboard engines and other equipment/gear, setting up or removal of lines, fenders and rigging; conduct regular checks and maintenance/ cleaning of various marina equipment items; assist customers in docking/undocking, moving boats along docks and into/out of travel lift ramp; and, pressure washing boats;grounds/dock/harbour maintenance: cleaning docks, grounds, harbour, shoreline, picnic shelters, barbecues, and portable toilets by washing surfaces, picking up debris/waste, and disposing in waste or recycling receptacles; collecting cash and receipts from public boat ramp ticket machine and bringing to the marina office for processing;maintain docks and grounds by making basic carpentry and plumbing repairs, changing light bulbs, painting, replacing or securing fasteners and power cables, and adjusting chains; office duties including accepting payments for fuel/merchandise sales, checking in visitors and assigning slips, answering the phone, providing customer service and providing general boating and marina information.prepare marina for winter by assisting with the winterization of seasonal water lines and putting away equipment, furniture, barbecues, and other items;building maintenance: cleaning and sanitizing washrooms, showers, lobby, lounge, office, staff room, workshop, maintenance and mechanical room.set up/clean up related to hall rentals and special events;fuelling boats on service wall using gas and diesel pumps;pump out boater waste tanks;assist customers with gear/equipment; and, other duties as may be assigned.Reporting To The Supervisor(s) Of Operations – Roads/Traffic, And Under The Direction Of The Working Foreperson From November Until April The Labourer Is Responsible For Providing General Labour For Duties Involved Within The Roads And Traffic Sections Of The Operations Services Department, Including:operating and maintaining various equipment, vehicles and tools;flagging and traffic control;installation of traffic signs and detours;repairing and/or installing Town fences;concrete repairs and installation;assisting with roadway patrolling, maintenance, repairs and/or clean up;tree trimming and/or removal;snow clearing and application of salt on the road and/or sidewalk areas;ensuring all equipment and/or tools are operated in a safe and professional manner;providing excellent customer service, including responding to inquiries/concerns from the general public and other members of staff in a courteous manner; and,assisting with other duties as assigned.Who You AreYou’re always happy to learn new things and to help build a working environment that encourages and cultivates new ideas. You always perform work in a safe manner and avoid shortcuts that increase health and safety risks to yourself or others.What You Bring To Our TeamAs the successful applicant, you must possess:a secondary school graduation diploma;a valid Class “DZ” Driver’s Licence, maintained in good standing;a Pleasure Craft Operator Certificate;a valid First Aid, CPR and AED Certifications;successful completion of a Maritime Radio Course (preferred);a minimum of one (1) year demonstrated experience operating vehicles exceeding 11,000 kilograms gross weight or registered gross weight or any truck or combination provided the towed vehicle is not over 4,600kilogramssuccessful completion of Defensive Driving training;a demonstrated ability to adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act;the ability to operate various tools and equipment in a safe manner;physically fit and capable of performing strenuous physical labour with heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. in varying weather conditions; and,demonstrated ability to adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act.What We Offer YouA comprehensive benefits and pension program to ensure that your total compensation package addresses both your work and life needsSalary Range/Hourly Rate:Labourer, Marina: $30.26 - $37.84Labourer, Roads: $28.31 - $35.42Hybrid Information:Mobile FrontlineHours:Labourer, Marina - This position may work flex hours, including days, afternoons, and nights, forty (40) hours per week. Between April-November shifts may be scheduled between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., Sunday to Saturday. Between the months of December-March shifts may be scheduled between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Sunday to Saturday. Labourer, Roads - Flex hours, including days, afternoons and nights, forty (40) hours per week.
