Gemstone is Bayer’s global digital platform for managing clinical trial operations, built on the Veeva Vault Clinical Suite. It includes modules such as eTMF, CTMS, Study Startup, Site Connect and Disclosures. The goal of Gemstone is to enhance efficiency, transparency, and regulatory compliance in clinical development through integrated, cloud-based solutions. The platform is continuously evolving and plays a central role in Bayer’s digital transformation within Clinical Development Operations.As Product Manager for Gemstone, Bayer’s global digital platform for clinical trial operations, you will define the strategic vision for digital solutions that support study startup, trial master file management, and regulatory disclosures. You’ll manage the product backlog and guide cross-functional teams including clinical, technical, and enabling functions toward delivering compliant, efficient, and user-centered solutions. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of clinical processes, regulatory requirements, and digital system architecture. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As Product Manager for Gemstone and VST, your key responsibilities will include the following tasks: Strategic Product Development: Collaborate with business stakeholders and the digital lead to drive the strategic development of both Gemstone and VST, ensuring that product enhancements align with business goals and user needs. Develop Project Plans and Resource Allocation: Create comprehensive project plans that outline key milestones, deliverables, and timelines. Ensure effective resource planning by aligning team members and other resources to project needs. Release Management: Oversee and maintain product release schedules, ensuring new features and updates are delivered on time and meet quality standards. Cutover Planning: Prepare and execute cutover plans to facilitate smooth transitions during major releases or system migrations, minimizing disruption to business operations. Team Coordination: Coordinate cross-functional product teams, providing clear direction and support to ensure all project members are aligned and working toward common objectives. Status Updates and Stakeholder Communication: Regularly provide project status updates and maintain open communication with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management, to ensure transparency and alignment. Cost Control and Budget Tracking: Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and implement cost-control measures to ensure projects are delivered within financial parameters. Conduct market and user analyses to identify opportunities for optimization. Communicate effectively with stakeholders across all organizational levels, including senior management. WHO YOU ARE: Advanced experience (5+ years) as a product manager, with a proven track record of leading product initiatives and cross-functional teams within the life sciences industry. Certified in Veeva Clinical Operations, demonstrating a deep understanding of Veeva solutions and clinical trial technology ecosystems. Comprehensive expertise in Clinical Operations processes, paired with working knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Quality, and Commercial domains in the pharmaceutical sector. Skilled in translating business objectives into actionable product strategies, defining product roadmaps, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and user needs. Strong command of IT architecture principles and the practical deployment of scalable technology solutions for clinical trial management. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging at all organizational levels, including senior management. Adept at project planning, release management, and resource allocation to support the successful delivery of product releases on time and within budget. Analytical problem-solver with sound decision-making skills, committed to continuous product improvement and operational efficiency. Holds a university degree in science, business, or information technology; a Master’s degree is preferred. GxP expertise is an advantage. Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
