Our client, a downtown law firm, is looking for a Bilingual Legal Assistant to join their close-knit team in a permanent, full-time capacity.Duties may include, but are not limited to:Provide administrative support to lawyersCoordinate schedules, appointments, and meetings with clients and peersManage incoming mail, prioritize deadlines, and maintain accurate recordsEnsure seamless workflow through the lawyers' offices, expediting tasks as neededCreate, prepare, and proofread documents, correspondence, and legal materialsAssist in preparing and formatting legal documents, forms, and court pleadingsArrange for service, filing, and payment of court documents and invoicesMake travel arrangements and maintain organized recordsSet up and maintain filing systems, including tickler systems and file closure proceduresEnter dockets into accounting software in both English and FrenchPrepare reports, including file status, work-in-progress, and pre-billRequired Skills and Experience:Proven experience as a Legal Assistant in LitigationFluency in both French and English (written and oral)Strong technical skills in Word, Outlook, and Adobe; knowledge of Excel is an assetFamiliarity with Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Court Rules, court filing procedures, and time limitationsAbility to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing prioritiesEffective communication skills in writing and speaking, with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation in both languagesStrong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills in both languagesHighly organized and able to maintain confidentialityAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWorking knowledge of legal office administration through office procedures courses or related experience is valuedDemonstrates a sound work ethic, flexibility, respect, honesty, and trustworthinessBenefits and perks:3 weeks' vacationExtended Health and dental benefits – monthly premiums covered by employerRRSP match after probation (2x contribution by employer)Hybrid flex working environment – 2 days’ in-office / 3 days’ work from homeSummer hours (9:00am – 3:00pm on Fridays)Fitness allowance15 paid sick days per yearLong- and short-term disability New office spaceCentrally locatedPaid professional developmentSalary: $52,500 - $65,200 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pmIf you are interested and believe you meet the specified qualifications, please reply to this ad with your Resume.Please do not hesitate to contact our office at 613-565-XPRS (9777) for more information.We thank all applicants for their interest in Express Employment Professionals; however, only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
