As we scale, we are looking for ambitious, mission-aligned talent to help us grow — and do so responsibly.The RoleAs Legal Associate at Carbon Equity, you will play a key role in shaping the legal and regulatory foundation of a rapidly scaling investment platform.You will work closely with the CLRO, Compliance officer, Finance manager, and Investment Team on a wide range of matters — from fund formation and investor documentation to regulatory topics such as AIFMD, Wft, DORA, and privacy.This role offers a unique opportunity to work very close to the business, supporting the development of new and innovative fund structures — such as the first Dutch ELTIF launched last year — while remaining part of a small, collaborative team.It’s an ideal next step for someone looking to transition from private practice to an in-house role, in an environment that combines intellectual challenge, entrepreneurial energy, and tangible impact.Your ResponsibilitiesSupport the setup and structuring of new Carbon Equity funds.Draft and review legal documentation such as fund agreements, PPMs, KIDs, and related investor documentation.Provide legal input on marketing materials and investor communications.Monitor developments in Dutch and EU financial regulation — including AIFMD, Wft, DORA, and privacy law — and assess their impact on our business.Develop and maintain standard templates and playbooks (e.g., transfer agreements, distribution agreements, NDAs).Work cross-functionally with the sales, investment, and operations teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulation and to support commercial execution.Your ProfileMaster’s degree in Law (Dutch).3–5 years of experience as a lawyer or legal counsel, ideally in financial services, private equity, or venture capital.Strong understanding of Dutch financial regulation (Wft, AIFMD, DORA, privacy).Excellent drafting skills and ability to communicate complex legal topics clearly and pragmatically.Native Dutch speaker with fluent English.You enjoy working in a dynamic environment and are motivated by the opportunity to help build something new.Who You Might Be TodayA lawyer at a top-tier firm (funds or regulatory practice) looking to move in-house.A legal counsel or regulatory specialist in a fund manager, wealth platform, or related financial institution.A professional at a regulator (e.g., AFM) seeking to work closer to business execution.What We OfferA mission-driven company working on the defining challenge of our time.The opportunity to participate in our employee stock option plan (ESOP).The chance to work on cutting-edge regulatory and fund structuring topics — including pioneering products like ELTIFs.A small, entrepreneurial legal team where your impact is direct and visible.Hybrid work setup, with at least three days per week in our Amsterdam office.25 vacation days (based on full-time) and bi-annual company offsites.Competitive compensation package in line with experience.
