Job Description

Job PurposeThe Librarian, E-Resources & Metadata manages electronic resources, ensuring continuous access, keeping accurate records of library subscriptions, troubleshooting access issues, tracking e-book purchases, cataloging and maintaining print resources, and assisting with reports.You will work collaboratively with library staff, liaise with vendors and service providers, and provide client services related to resources access.Major AccountabilitiesResponsible for ensuring continuous access, discovery and maintenance of electronic resources, including databases, e-journals, e-books, and multimedia.Monitor access and troubleshoot technical issues related to electronic resources.Establish relationships and collaborate with vendors and publishers to ensure optimal performance and timely access for library users.Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of metadata for all library resources, both print and digital formats.Performs cataloging and classification of library resources, including print and digital formats.Manage and maintain the A-Z database list by proactively checking access.Monitors authentication and proxy services to enable remote access.Collaborate with the Technical Services & Reporting Officer to ensure accessibility and usability of digital materials.Stay current and ensure metadata complies with international standards like MARC, Dublin Core, and others as appropriate.Provide user support and training related to electronic resource access and utilization.Monitors tickets and acts as the first point of contact for electronic resource access issues and communicates responses.Collaborate with collection development librarians to assess the need for electronic resources.Collaborate with Technical Services & Reporting Officer to collect and analyze electronic resource usage, access patterns, and user satisfaction data.Use assessment data to inform decision-making and continuously improve electronic resource services.Assists with the scheduling of the information desk.Stay informed about emerging trends and developments in electronic resources management, metadata, and access services.Represent the library in relevant internal and external communities and projects.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge of electronic resources management, metadata standards, and cataloging practices.Strong technical skills and familiarity with library systems and discovery platforms.Attention to details is a must.Commitment to staying current with developments in library technology and metadata practices.Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Person Requirements CompetenciesRequired Knowledge of electronic resources management, metadata standards, and cataloging practices.Strong technical skills and familiarity with library systems and discovery platforms.Attention to details is a must.Commitment to staying current with developments in library technology and metadata practices.Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.A strong user focus and service orientation, excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to embrace change.QualificationsA Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS), or a related field.Experience3+ years' experience in E-Resources Management within an Academic or Research Library setting.
