Job DescriptionSupervise, motivate and manage the cemetery laborers for 3 parks. The right candidate is organized and focused on the appearance of the parks. The candidate will be able to look at the property and identify deficiencies and direct the labor to take corrective action. You should be comfortable directing and delegating but also willing to work alongside the crew on projects to achieve the necessary results. Responsible for keeping the cemetery parks looking good and up to our standard.
The Grounds Superintendent will lead projects at the parks such as light construction, landscaping, and installation of memorials and markers at grave sites. The Grounds Superintendent will need to manage labor to budget, getting results while managing overtimeRequirementsMust have experience running heavy equipment, specifically backhoes and tractors and zero-turn mowersExperience managing a crew of 4-6 employees. Must be able to delegate daily work activities. Must be comfortable holding employees accountable for daily work. Must be organized and able to prioritize work.
Workorder system in place so you must have experience using technology and using technology to respond to (email) management and close workorders. You should be experienced with corresponding via emails and communicating to leadership in both written and verbally about results. Must be comfortable talking to customers visiting the park. Customer service mentality is important. Must be able to remain calm and focused if complaints are raised, and focused on addressing the issues timelyExperience with preventative maintenance on mowers, backhoes, trucks, and tractors. Preferred cemetery, golf course or property management experience. Comfortable with being hands-on.
Digging, lifting, and moving dirt and stone. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Can operate handheld tools and equipment including but not limited to shovel, pick, rake, weed trimmer, leaf blower and water pump.
