The founding principles of the company are still in place today, which are to provide residents with affordable, secure housing with a standard of care in which we would treat our own family members.Position SummaryThe Life Safety Specialist & Administrator will be responsible to conduct monthly inspections of all life safety equipment, facilitate and oversee annual inspections by licensed contractors, train and orientate building staff and ensure that identified deficiencies are corrected in a timely and/or cost-effective basis. Additionally, to be the primary administrator for all annual fire documents for the Homestead portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesRegular travel between Toronto and Burlington.Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual inspections of all life safety systems as per the Ontario Fire Code.Regular meetings with Operations AVPs, LSS team and ManagerExclusive and consistent record keeping of all fire logbooks and records.Coordination of yearly certification of all buildings in the portfolio by an approved outside contractor.Training of all site staff with regards to daily duties, operation of equipment and applicable site staff responsibilities.Verification and updating of fire plans i.e. personnel; residents requiring accommodation needs; equipment changes.Verification of deficiencies and assistance with orders to comply.Other assigned duties as applicable.Follow an ‘on-call’ scheduleQualificationsCompletion of the Fire Alarm Technician Program at the college level is considered an assetValid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicleKnowledge of fire alarm panels and sprinkler systemsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteAdditional InformationA satisfactory reference check and criminal records clearance are required for the position.
