If yes, you might be interested in this position and working for an international fashion retail company based in Germany.We are looking for a Linux Expert responsible for maintaining, developing, and optimizing the POS (Point of Sale) infrastructure across stores. The role combines operational support, Linux engineering, and deployment coordination to ensure stable and efficient POS system operations.Key Responsibilities:POS Operations & Support: Handle patch and release management of POS systems (Cash Desk 2.0 and earlier), analyze and resolve operational issues, and provide technical support for POS hardware and software.Linux Engineering & Automation: Develop and maintain Linux-based operating system images and distributions for POS devices, automate administrative tasks (e.g., via Bash/Shell scripting), and manage software packaging and deployment.Deployment & Rollouts: Support the initial setup of new POS hardware generations, assist with migrations and hardware rollouts for store openings.Collaboration & Project Coordination: Work closely with internal teams and external vendors, participate in POS-related projects, and document technical processes in Jira and Confluence.Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing development and optimization of POS infrastructure and participate in strategic planning for future POS environments.Requirements:Completed IT-related education or degree, or equivalent experience.Strong knowledge of Linux system administration (Debian/Ubuntu or similar).Experience with Shell/Bash scripting and automation.Familiarity with patch management, software distribution, and package management (APT, YUM, RPM, etc.).Experience with POS hardware/software operations is a strong advantage.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, reliable approach.Excellent teamwork and communication skills.Experience with Jira, Confluence, and version control tools (e.g., Git) preferred.Ideal Background: 3–5+ years of experience in Linux administration, preferably in retail or POS environments.
