Location: Colorado Springs, CO – Schriever Space Force BaseClearance Required: Active DoD Secret or higherTravel: Up to 10%LaunchTech is seeking a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining Linux-based systems while leading a team of administrators to ensure operational readiness and compliance. You will oversee container platforms, system hardening, and cybersecurity integration while mentoring staff to deliver excellence in mission-critical environments.What You’ll DoAs a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead, you will:Design, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain Linux-based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space CenterAdminister container platforms such as OpenShift, Docker, and Podman, as well as maintain multiple repositories and registriesOversee and perform the hardening of operating systems and ensure STIG complianceCollaborate with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, infrastructure, and application teams to maintain system administration and compliance practicesManage and delegate tasking derived from project, sustainment, and break/fix activitiesMentor a team responsible for installations, maintenance, break/fix support, and cybersecurity mitigations in accordance with policies, procedures, and service level agreementsDevelop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline configuration documentationFocus on creating, upgrading, managing, and sustaining physical and virtual workstationsWhat You BringBasic Requirements:Must have 5, or more, years of directly related experience to UNIX and/or Linux systems administrationMust have, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a computing environment Linux certificationMust have, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security+)Must have an active DoD Secret, or higher, Security ClearanceDesired Requirements:Must have a Bachelor’s, or higher, in an IT or any STEM related fieldHave experience administering a Red Hat Linux environmentWhy LaunchTech?At LaunchTech, we don’t just fill seats, we bring in people who want to make an impact.
