Job Description
The RoleWe are seeking a strategic, finance-savvy Loan Officer with experience in venture capital, private equity, or structured lending to support our deal team in underwriting, due diligence, loan servicing, and ongoing portfolio management. This role requires a deep understanding of credit structures for investor-backed companies and strong analytical and relationship-management skills.Key ResponsibilitiesLoan Origination & Structuring:Evaluate VC- and PE-backed companies for creditworthiness by analyzing financial statements, cap tables, investor profiles, and market dynamicsStructure and originate loan products such as venture debt, acquisition financing, growth capital, and working capital linesCollaborate with internal teams (investment, legal, operations) to finalize term sheets, credit approvals, and legal documentationDue DiligenceLead and coordinate financial, legal, operational, and management due diligence on prospective borrowersAssess company burn rate, revenue quality, unit economics, churn metrics, and customer concentrationReview corporate governance documents, capitalization structures, intellectual property status, and key contractsWork closely with external counsel, third-party diligence providers, and internal stakeholders to validate underwriting assumptionsLoan Servicing & Portfolio ManagementOversee onboarding and disbursement processes for newly originated loansMonitor loan performance, borrower compliance with covenants, financial reporting obligations, and key risk indicatorsManage periodic portfolio reviews, risk grading, and exposure analysisCoordinate amendments, waivers, renewals, or restructurings as neededServe as primary point of contact for borrowers post-close, ensuring a high-quality client experience and proactive issue resolutionRelationship Management & Market EngagementBuild and maintain relationships with startup founders, CFOs, VC/PE partners, and advisory networks to drive deal flowTrack market trends, sector developments, and capital market dynamics relevant to growth-stage lendingQualifications7+ years of experience in venture debt, private credit, structured finance, commercial banking, or related financial servicesStrong credit analysis, financial modeling, and deal structuring skillsPrior experience with due diligence and ongoing loan servicing of investor-backed companies is requiredExcellent communication and relationship-building skillsFamiliarity with SaaS metrics, startup financials, and growth company dynamics preferredProficiency in Excel, loan servicing, and portfolio monitoring toolsEducation & CertificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CPA or CFA a plusUnderstanding of applicable lending regulations and best practices in credit risk managementBenefits & PerksCompensation commensurate with experienceFlexible work scheduleUnlimited vacationMedical, dental, and vision insuranceOngoing education and trainingBonuses and profit-sharing
