SummaryThe Logistics Supervisor Superintendent is responsible for handling the logistical coordination of the organizations facilities, including office buildings and plants. Other duties include management of all aspects regarding transportation, as well as shipping and receiving tasks. The Logistics Supervisor shall also create and maintain all associated documentation in adherence to legislation and organizational policies and procedures. In some circumstances, the Logistics Supervisor may be responsible for the safety requirements of the organizations facilities and assets.Core CompetenciesCommunicationTeam Work Time Management Problem Solving Accountability and DependabilityAdaptability and Flexibility Ethics and IntegrityCreative and Innovative ThinkingMediating and NegotiatingMathematical ReasoningJob DutiesDevelop and direct logistic processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier management.Develop, implement, and monitor performance metrics for transportation, shipping and receiving.Create, monitor, and report on weekly and monthly logistics key performance indicators.Negotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providers.Collaborate with purchasing departments in request for proposal (RFP), and request for quote (RFQ) processes.Work with the inventory planning personnel to minimize shortages and improve inventory holdings. Provide monthly updates on the status of projects and give progress reports on other process improvement initiatives. Manage courier/carrier implementations and establish service level agreements to ensure services are delivered as promised. Conduct profit and loss management for the company’s logistics function; manage logistics budget.Provide administration for the warehousing system and regularly review performance expectations with leadership team.Organize staff training and development.Communicate the organizations safety policies in accordance with applicable federal safety standards and local laws.Deal with imports and exports shipped to and from the company; work with customs officials to ensure compliance. Conduct fleet management on company vehicles as necessary.RequirementsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred.Five years related experience in a manufacturing environment.Direct working knowledge of operations, plant management, inventory control, and transportation management. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Experience in managing third-party logistics providers.Solid project management skills are essential.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.Good financial and business awareness.Good written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills.Strong customer service orientation.Team player.Ability to work in a “high pressure” environment.Crisis management skills.Detail oriented.Good interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks.Strong negotiation skills.Ability to supervise others.
