Mainframe Network Support Engineer

We, in turn, work hard to bring out the best in them as we strive to help them find their spark and become the best version of themselves that they can be.We are on the lookout for a highly talented and self-motivated Mainframe Network Support Engineer to join us on our journey in advancing the technological world through innovation and creativity.Role Summary - The Mainframe Network Support Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking software and communication subsystems on IBM z/OS mainframe environments. This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity across enterprise systems and supports mission-critical operations.Key Responsibilities:Installation & Configuration- Install and configure mainframe networking components such as TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA, NetView, and Enterprise Extender (EE). - Apply maintenance updates using SMP/E, including PTFs and APARs. - Customize communication parameters and profiles to meet business needs.System Programming & Support- Provide L3-level support for mainframe networking issues including connectivity failures, performance bottlenecks, and protocol-level diagnostics. - Support integration with subsystems like CICS, IMS, DB2, and MQ. - Manage IPL considerations, traces, dumps, and log analysis.Performance & Capacity Management- Monitor and tune TCP/IP stacks, VTAM definitions, and EE connections. - Optimize session routing, buffer sizes, and bandwidth utilization. - Forecast capacity and plan for network growth or upgrades.Security & Compliance- Implement network security controls in coordination with RACF/ACF2/TSS. - Configure AT-TLS, IPSec, and encrypted sockets for secure communication. - Ensure compliance with SOX, PCI-DSS, ITGC, and internal policies.Documentation & Collaboration- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations and resolutions. - Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams. - Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) drills and planning activities.Required Skills & Technologies:- IBM z/OS mainframe networking - TCP/IP, VTAM, SNA, EE, NetView - SMP/E, JCL, REXX, TN3270 - Monitoring tools: Omegamon, TMON - Session management: TPX, CL/Supersession - File transfer: Connect:Direct - Security: RACF, AT-TLS, IPSec - Compliance frameworks: PCI-DSS, SOXQualifications - 8+ years of experience in mainframe networking and system programming.
