This marks Australia's second time hosting the event, after previously staging it in 2006, and follows the success of co-hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™. You will be part of a Local Organising Committee (LOC), which has been established for the sole purpose of delivering the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™ in Australia.This prestigious event will bring together 12 nations in a tournament structured into three groups of four. We are eager to create another tournament that celebrates women's football and multicultural Australia and also delivers legacy outcomes for football and Australian society more broadly.If you need assistance in applying for this role, please reach out to our People team.Background and Purpose of RoleReporting to the General Manager Competition centrally, and the Venue General Manager within the host city, the Competition Operations Manager will be a key member of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 LOC, and work in close collaboration with the AFC General Coordinator, LOC team, local stakeholders including venue management and pitch consultants, and other key individuals responsible for delivering Competition deliverables at both Perth stadiums.The role will be responsible for the local leadership of the Competition team across Perth and service the AFC and LOC Competition requirements for the duration of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.This is a fixed term contract-based role ideal for a dynamic and experienced candidate with a proven track record working in elite sport and at large-scale temporary events, who has exceptional stakeholder management skills and is a strategic thinker with prioritization and communication skills.Your Next Big MatchLead and manage the Competition Operations team in Perth, including temporary staff, volunteers & contractors.Supervise training and day-to-day management of Competition volunteer workforce, ensuring all staff are well-prepared to deliver high levels of service.Foster a collaborative and responsive team environment, ensuring staff and volunteers understand their roles and operate efficiently under the pressures of a live event.Oversee all aspects of competition operations throughout the event lifecycle for Perth stadiums.Work with the procedures and protocols that effectively administer and support the successful delivery of Competition Program Area outcomes. Previous experience as a leader of teams (paid, contractor and volunteer) across Competition Management or Sport Event Operations. Previous involvement within football as an administrator will be highly regarded.Excellent communicator with strong planning, organizational and administrative skills. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to consistently deliver at a high standard. Proven ability in working closely and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, while being self-motivated and comfortable working independently. Demonstrates the ability to make quick decisions using problem-solving skills and exercising sound judgement to achieve results. Experience working in an international, demanding and changing environment. Able to adapt to and work well with people of other cultures and backgrounds. High energy levels, exceptional planning and organizational skills, strong negotiation and facilitation skills, excellent communication and presentation skills and positive relationship management abilities.
