We are looking at an incumbent to join us as we build a successful business together.As part of your portfolio as Manager: Data Scientist, you will be responsible to:Support the Senior Manager: Data Platform Engineering in establishing and leading the Data Function at MTN MoMo, implementing a strategic approach to data management, governance, monetization, and analytics across 16 markets in AfricaProvide support in the structuring MTN MoMo’s corporate data model, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks, enabling business growth through data-driven insights, and optimizing the value of 65 million monthly active customers and 15 billion annual transactions across multiple business verticals, including lending, insurance, remittances, e-commerce, and marketplace servicesBe the subject matter expert in Data Science and Advanced AnalyticsThe incumbent must have the following:Minimum 4-year Academic Degree with Honours (Computer Science, Data Science, or related Degree Preferred)Proven experience (5+ years) in Advanced Data & Analytics and Data ScienceAt least 3 years’ experience within a non-traditional FinTech or Consumer Marketing environmentExposure to digital technologies in the space of APIs, ecommerce, and advanced analyticsProven track record of technical and specialised know-how in the FinTech operations management space and understanding of platform business modelHands-on experience with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, AWS, Azure, GCP), AI/ML, data lakes, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)Strong technical skills in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization tools such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BIBig Data On-premises and Cloud Data Pipeline (M. Fabric) deployment exposureMachine Learning Operations Pipeline deployment exposureWeb Open-Source Interface development exposureExperience at the management level in the financial sectorStrong knowledge of data privacy laws and compliance frameworks relevant to AfricaExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical audiencesAdvanced analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategic recommendationsEntrepreneurial spirit, self-driven and ability to motivate a fast-paced teamWhat will give an edge to your application:Masters Degree in Computer Science, Big Data, Database AdministrationExperience in the telecommunications/ Financial Services or Fintech Companies or related fieldsAPI Development and Deployment exposureUnderstanding emerging marketsPan Africa multi-cultural experienceWilling and flexible to travel within Africa and Middle EastFrench language proficiencyReady to make and drive the change with us?
