Join the Department of Trade, Employment and Training to support Queenslanders realise their education and training pathways now and into the future.The Manager, Operational Policy and Regional Assistance (OPRA), is responsiblefor delivering leadership and program management expertise to shape quality processes, systems and services across the Queensland apprenticeship and traineeship system. As a key point of contact for your team, the Department of Trade, Employment and Training regions, the Federal Government and industry, you will provide advice and support in areas relating to the vocational education and training system in Queensland.About The RoleAs the Manager (Operational Policy and Regional Assistance) you will:Lead the coordination of unit responses to issues related to legislation, departmental policies and operational policies for apprenticeships and traineeships. This includes responses to ministerial correspondence and parliamentary questions, cabinet submissions, preparing briefing notes for senior managers and agenda items for consideration by state and national training regulatory bodies.Manage the department's engagement with regional training services units by maintaining operational policy and procedure frameworks, ensuring regular communication, monitoring reporting requirements and managing regional performance agreements. Lead operational policy and research initiatives relating to the future direction of vocational education and training in Queensland, with a particular focus on apprenticeships and traineeships. Undertake high-level liaison and negotiation with diverse stakeholders, including senior management, industry representatives, training providers, employers, unions, community groups and government agencies.What We Are Looking ForThe position requires an applicant who can:Demonstrate rigour in advice by ensuring it is well-considered, supported by clear rationale and explores solutions beyond the obvious.Showcase expertise and a comprehensive understanding of Queensland's vocational education and training (VET) system, with a particular focus on the apprenticeship and traineeship system. Demonstrate the ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with complex stakeholders in the VET sector, often managing competing interests to achieve positive outcomes.Lead internal and external networks and relationship management by proactively engaging with customers and stakeholders, understanding their perspectives and sharing insights within the team.
