You will act as the key driver of supplier engagement, responsible for managing complex negotiations and employing analytical rigor to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance. Your expertise will be critical in translating merchant needs into a robust, high-performing supplier matrix that ensures our seasonal offerings are timely, compliant, and competitively priced.What You'll DoStrategy Development & Optimization: Build, manage, and optimize comprehensive Private Brand sourcing strategies and the supplier matrix to maximize Gross Merchandise Value (GMV), profit, and market share, supporting the Every Day Low Prices (EDLP) strategy.Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain robust supplier relationships, encompassing account management, project oversight, and direct factory engagement. Conduct formal supplier assessments and ensure ongoing compliance with company standards and policies.Global Trade Intelligence: Demonstrate awareness of global trade developments for assigned seasonal geographies, actively collecting market intelligence, and incorporating insights into strategic sourcing proposals and risk mitigation plans.Cost & Negotiation Leadership: Lead the Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Information (RFI), and Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes. Negotiate competitive pricing, resolve complex factory issues, and leverage "should-be" cost structures to drive cost-saving opportunities.End-to-End Product Flow: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth product development process, from initial ideation and component specification to final production and active participation in order placement decisions.Retail Alignment & Buy Trips: Communicate effectively with US retail teams to align on sourcing objectives, coordinate necessary buying trips, and manage critical issues during the order execution process.Operational Oversight: Manage the oversight of sourcing and operational issues regarding costing and quality of omnichannel products, focusing on resolving issues related to on-time delivery.Quality and Capacity Assurance: Oversee and validate factory capability, capacity, and performance. Partner directly with Merchandise Quality Engineers to proactively address and resolve product quality concerns.Cross-Functional Initiative Leadership: Lead identified sourcing initiatives/projects with internal cross-functional partners, providing subject matter expertise and support to drive optimal, priority business solutions.Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Champion and implement continuous improvement initiatives in cost, quality, delivery performance, and newness/innovation by leveraging best practices and actively applying digitization and new ways of working.Data-Backed Proposals: Analyze large datasets by leveraging internal and third-party platforms/tools to build data-backed proposals and present sourcing solutions that mitigate risks while maintaining profitability.Expertise Development: Continuously develop deep product, component, and market knowledge to proactively identify potential new suppliers and product opportunities.What You'll BringEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or a related field (an advanced degree is preferred).Core Sourcing Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in a retail, manufacturing, or sourcing role, with a mandatory focus on successfully serving major U.S. retail customers.Global Category Exposure (Preferred): Global experience (3+ years) in Seasonal Sourcing, Merchandising, or Procurement is highly preferred.Strategic Business Acumen: Profound understanding of manufacturer, merchant, and customer motivations, and the ability to synthesize these perspectives into successful, integrated business strategies.Financial & Supply Chain Fluency: Demonstrated passion for developing successful businesses and meticulous attention to detail in the financial and supply chain fundamentals of sourcing.Data-Driven Decision Making: Highly analytical and data-savvy, with the capacity to interpret complex business fundamentals, anticipate market changes, and utilize large datasets to make evidence-based decisions.Action-Oriented Tenacity: Tenacious, dedicated, and results-oriented; thrives in environments that demand ownership, autonomy, and a strong drive for achieving aggressive financial and operational targets.Stakeholder Influence & Communication: Exceptional presentation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly identify and communicate business priorities to a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.Collaborative Relationship Building: Proven ability to cultivate robust, effective working relationships across all organizational levels, whether internal or external to Walmart.Intellectual Curiosity: Demonstrates a high level of curiosity and a growth mindset; exhibits resilience in the face of setbacks, and actively supports continuous learning and intelligent risk-taking.Negotiation & Analytical Rigor: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the demonstrated capacity to manage complex data and translate findings into clear, impactful sourcing solutions.Adaptability & Proactivity: Operates with a proactive approach to business development, consistently identifying opportunities and adapting quickly to complex priorities and market demands.This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the responsibilities and qualifications for this position.
