The Marketing Director will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all marketing activities at this highly specialist pharmaceutical consultancy. This senior position is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimising a comprehensive marketing strategy that enhances brand presence, drives business growth, and delivers measurable ROI across all campaigns and activities.The role requires a balance of strategic insight, cross-functional coordination, and rigorous implementation, ensuring that marketing initiatives directly support business objectives and contribute to the company’s commercial success.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipDevelop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with commercial goals, growth plans, and corporate vision.Serve as the strategic marketing lead within the senior management team, influencing key business decisions through data-driven insights.Oversee the brand strategy and ensure consistent messaging and positioning across all channels and stakeholder touchpoints.Partner with senior leadership to align marketing priorities with business development, service lines, and client engagement strategies.Campaign and Programme ManagementDirect the planning and execution of integrated, multichannel marketing campaigns, including thought leadership, digital, social, event-based, and partnership activities.Ensure all campaigns have clearly defined objectives, KPIs, and ROI tracking mechanisms, with robust post campaign evaluation and reporting.Establish and manage systems for measuring marketing performance across all key channels (Google Analytics, CRM, email, social media, events).Introduce continuous improvement processes to enhance marketing effectiveness and return on investment.Team Leadership and CollaborationLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and collaboration.Coordinate closely with Executive Leadership team, Business Development, Business Units, and Operational teams to ensure marketing efforts support pipeline and revenue goals.Champion collaboration and ensure marketing activities are effectively integrated across departments.Brand and CommunicationsChampion brand identity, ensuring consistency of voice, visuals, and values across all communications.Oversee the creation of high-impact content, including thought leadership articles, social media, newsletters, and case studies.Enhance market visibility through strategic partnerships, sponsorships, events, and speaking opportunities.Ensure internal communications and employer brand initiatives reflect values and support talent engagement.Budget and External Partner ManagementOversee and manage the marketing budget responsibly, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, monitoring Return on Investment and ensure transparent financial reporting.Own and manage relationships with external agencies, vendors, and service providers, ensuring alignment with marketing objectives and high-quality delivery.Evaluate and select external partners to support creative, digital, media, and event delivery needs, ensuring maximum value and performance.Present regular performance reports and insights to the Executive Team, identifying opportunities for optimisation and growth.It should be noted that the above list of main duties and responsibilities is not necessarily a complete statement of the final duties of the post. All employees are kindly requested to apply a level of flexibility to ensure business needs can be met.Key RequirementsExtensive experience in marketing leadership within pharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare consultancy sectors.Proven record of developing and executing high-impact marketing strategies that drive measurable business results.Strong strategic thinking and analytical capability with a focus on ROI and commercial performance metrics.Excellent leadership, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across senior functions.Creative and proactive mindset with exceptional attention to detail.Confident and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Technical CompetenciesExpertise in marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics, CRM, SEO, LinkedIn analytics, etc.).Skilled in content strategy, digital marketing, and brand management.Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft 365, and CRM/CMS platforms (Salesforce, WordPress).Experience managing multichannel marketing including social media, thought leadership, events, and email campaigns.Strong financial management and budget oversight skills.Demonstrated experience managing external agencies and providers to deliver strategic and creative outputs.ExperienceMinimum 10 years’ experience in marketing roles, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity.Life sciences or pharmaceutical industry experience essential.QualificationsDegree or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Communications, or related discipline.CIM qualification or MBA preferred.Mayflower is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
