We’re looking for a Marketing and Events Coordinator to support our Athletics and Recreation department in bringing its varsity sports programs, game day activations, and events to life.This is a high-energy, boots-on-the-ground position focused on community engagement, varsity sports event execution, and in-game fan activation. The successful candidate will play a key role in growing our fan base by engaging directly with students, youth sports communities across the GTA, and local sports fans.In this role, you’ll plan, design, develop, and execute a wide range of marketing, communications, and event materials across web, print, digital, and social media platforms to help amplify and promote all TMU Bold varsity team home games. You’ll coordinate the planning, production and execution of all game day marketing and event deliverables to support departmental initiatives and engagement goals.The successful candidate will also oversee the day-to-day operations of the unit — including budget administration — and will develop and execute detailed event work plans using project management tools to ensure every campaign and event runs seamlessly.This role requires a flexible schedule, including days, evenings (often past 10:30pm), and weekends to support approximately 100 home games per year. March is the playoff season, which involves rapid execution and limited pre-planning time.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinates marketing and communications projects from planning to implementation; Participates and assists the planning and design of projects and events; works closely with internal clients, Varsity Coaches, the Athletic Director , Director of Recreation, Equity & Active Well-being and unit supervisors to determine the annual operational needs and project objectives.Coordinates the production of marketing and communications assets and events; Works with internal stakeholders and external vendors and printers to identify content concepts and determine creative execution, video, photographic, design, event planning, game day promotions and prizes and other resource requirements, as applicable.Provides analytical and administrative support on day-to-day project activities; Maintains, optimizes, updates and provides analytic impact reports relating to marketing initiatives. Makes appropriate recommendations based on the analysis of the reports.Coordinate, plan, and execute varsity game day activations, fan engagement, and event operations, including run-of-show documents.Serve as the on-site contact for varsity games, liaising with the Oak View Group (OVG) and resolving last-minute event changes.Build and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including student groups, community organizations, and vendors.Supervise part-time student staff and track project progress, milestones, and completion.Collaborate on pre-game campus promotions and mascot scheduling; prepare cost estimates and manage vendor quotes.Support financial processes by reconciling reports and tracking project expenses.Lead on- and off-campus engagement efforts—including campus events, youth sports leagues, and community activations—to drive attendance and elevate the fan experience at varsity games.Plan and execute all home games, in-game activations, promotions, event bookings (DJs, MCs, vendors, performers), scripts, run-of-show documents, printing/signage needs, and mascot operations to deliver high-quality game-day experiences.Coordinate and schedule student staff, manage vendor relationships and budgets, support EDI initiatives, and track game attendance and expenses to support operational efficiency and annual reporting.QualificationsTo help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:Completion of a post-secondary degree in a relevant program such as Business Management, Communication, Sports Marketing and Event Management, Journalism, English or a related field is required.A minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in a dedicated marketing/branded communications position, advertising, sports and event marketing or a similar fast-paced environment is required.In-depth knowledge of marketing and event planning principles, practices, and analytics.
