Vianode is owned by the world-leading financial company Altor.Why This Role Will MatterAs Mechanical Engineer you will work closely with the Owner’s Team and external contractors, ensuring technical accuracy and project goal adherence. Key responsibilities include leading technical activities, providing guidance to Engineering contractors, overseeing design development, tracking progress, reviewing technical documentation, and liaising with third-party suppliers.What You’ll Be DrivingKey responsibilities include:Lead all technical activities including design, engineering, procurement support, Supplier quality, commissioning and start-up planning.Review technical documentation, specifications, drawings, and calculations provided by the Engineering contractor and ensure compliance to codes, standards, industry best practices, and project specifications.Support the bidding and Supplier selection process for Mechanical equipment packages (e.g. pumps, cooling towers, compressors, etc).Lead technical evaluation of equipment supplier proposals and ensure cost effective solutions are selected.Support Installation and Commissioning of equipment.Address any discrepancies or deviations from project specifications.Ensure adherence to project schedule and budget for assigned equipment packages and manage changes using established “management of change” procedures and tools.Identify risks that could impact cost, schedule, quality, or safety and propose mitigation plan. Ensure mitigation plans are reviewed by stakeholders and actions are driven to completion.Visit supplier facility during fabrication to monitor progress and quality.What You’ll Need to Stand-outCore qualifications and requirements:Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineeringMinimum of 10 years' proven track record in the industry with large-scale industrial projects experienceLicenced with Professional Engineers of Ontario and ideally with PMP CertificationExperience with various types of furnaces and/or dry powder processes, an assetProficient in relevant codes, standards, and regulations in CanadaAvailability to travel internationallyWhere work will be: Onsite, South West Ontario (specific location TBC)Onsite with visits to engineering offices, contractor offices and sites for walkthrough and other team meetingsAt Vianode, we believe in “The power of we.” The Vianode way is collaboration on every level.
