Role SummarySupports the design, documentation, and execution of mechanical engineering tasks related to rig construction, maintenance, and upgrade projects. Working under the supervision of senior engineers, this role assists with the preparation of technical drawings, conducts field data collection, and ensures engineering documentation is accurate and aligned with specifications. By contributing to the reliability and safety of mechanical systems, this position supports the operational integrity of the company’s onshore and offshore assets.Duties and ResponsibilitiesEngineering Drawings & Documentation• Assists in the development of mechanical engineering drawings, layouts, and construction details under supervision.• Performs basic design calculations to support engineering evaluations, with guidance from senior engineers.• Updates existing mechanical drawings and prepares as-built documentation to ensure rig modifications are accurately reflected.Field Data Collection and Support• Participates in rig survey visits under supervision to collect field measurements and operational data.• Supports engineers and designers during data collection activities, ensuring accuracy for design validation.Project and Documentation Support• Assists in preparing technical packages, reports, and project deliverables for submission to stakeholders.• Coordinates with subcontractors, vendors, and designers during technical discussions, ensuring alignment with standards and project requirements.Cross-Functional Collaboration• Communicates with rig personnel to gather design inputs and clarify drawing requirements.• Provides support to shipyard teams, rig operations, and marketing by addressing routine technical queries.Quality and Compliance• Supports classification and regulatory review preparation by compiling required technical documentation.• Contributes to inspections and construction tests to verify compliance with engineering specifications.Continuous Learning• Gains practical experience in project coordination, technical documentation, and marine regulatory compliance.• Supports knowledge transfer by working closely with senior engineers and learning established company processes.Requirements•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Power Engineering or a related field.•3–5 years of experience in engineering drafting or design, preferably within the Oil & Gas drilling industry or a similar technical environment.•Strong knowledge of main vessel utility systems, including piping and pumping for ballast, bilge, drill water, potable water, seawater service and cooling, engine cooling, sanitary, and drainage systems.•Experience with fire and safety systems such as CO₂, deluge, fire mains and hydrants, foam and sprinkler systems, lifeboats, and life rafts.•Familiarity with mooring equipment and leg jacking systems.•Solid understanding of main drilling equipment, including drawworks, rotary tables, top drive systems, mud pumps, and associated mud systems and equipment.•Working knowledge of HVAC, air conditioning, and marine ventilation systems (Must).• Experience with rig main power and auxiliary machinery, including engine fuel systems, air compressors and dryers, water-making equipment, boilers, steam generators, and main propulsion systems.• Proficiency in AutoCAD (recent versions preferred) with the ability to produce precise 2D technical drawings.
