You will work on technically challenging projects, broaden your skills across design, prototyping, and manufacturing, and contribute directly to the creation of industry-leading products.Purpose of the RoleAs a Mechanical Engineer within our R&D department, you will design, prototype and validate mechanical components for new product releases, bespoke client projects and internal company systems within the fields of entertainment lasers and special effects.You will create CAD/CAM files for in-house production using our CNC laser cutter, milling machine, lathe and router, and manage outsourced fabrication when required. You will also support prototype testing, 3D printing, and documentation throughout the development cycle. This role reports directly to the Technical Director.You will be working in a fast-paced international business across multiple time zones, therefore it is important that you have the following Skills and Experience:Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentationStrong engineering calculation and analysis skills for material selection and design verificationAble to work independently or as part of a team, managing workloads to meet deadlinesHighly analytical with exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detailExcellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly2–5 years experience in a mechanical engineering roleProficiency with CAM software producing toolpaths for a range of different CNC machines (ideally Autodesk Fusion 360)2–5 years experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD or Fusion 360 to create 3D models and 2D technical drawingsAs a Mechanical Engineer your responsibilities will include:Designing and documenting mechanical parts using CAD, including sheet metal and milled components for equipment enclosures, optical mounts, electronic component housings and motion-drive assembliesTaking ownership of full product mechanical design, including overall product architecture, mechanical layout, manufacturability considerations and integration with electronic and optical systemsCreating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all products, ensuring accuracy throughout the development process and into productionSourcing, costing and maintaining pricing for components, working with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and reliable parts procurementWorking with the fabrication team to set up, validate and optimise CNC machining programsCoordinating with external fabricators to ensure components and assemblies are produced accurately and delivered on scheduleProducing prototype and production components using in-house 3D printersResearching new manufacturing technologies and processes to drive innovation and cost-effective designAssembling and testing prototype products and systemsSupporting assembly of production units when requiredCreating assembly instructions, manufacturing guides and documentation for external suppliers and internal staffPackage on Offer:£37,000.00 - £40,000.00 Per Annum depending on experienceBupa Health CareCompany Pension SchemeMobile Phone4 Weeks holiday + Bank Holidays and Christmas shutdownA little about us:ER Productions is an international, award-winning laser show & laser system design and special effects specialist, with credits spanning high profile events, advertising, television and worldwide concert tours.Constantly pushing the envelope when it comes to the ongoing development, manufacture and sourcing of cutting-edge laser & SFX products, we have the largest collection of laser solutions worldwide.With offices in the UK, Spain, Australia, KSA and USA, ER Productions is perfectly placed to deliver systems and show-stopping laser & SFX displays around the world.
