Mechanical Engineer Lead

Summary:Analyze customer requirements and develop competitive systems and station concepts. Document pertinent application engineering calculations and data. Responsible for high quality design work, accurate quoting, and effective machine build supervision and start-up. Major Responsibilities: • Responsible for the quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of designs. • Responsible for conformance to design specifications. • Obtain necessary subcontract support and quotations. • Attend customer line up meetings. • Visit customer plants. • Review and completely understand customer requirements and specifications. o Terms and conditions. o Plant and corporate specifications. o Preferred vendor listings. o Part and assembly drawings and specifications. o Project specific quotation requirements. Develop conceptual solutions and alternatives. o Process flow sequences and strategies. o Part handling and fixturing methods. o Station concepts, including operating sequences, timing charts. o Material flow with system layouts and arrangements • Sketches, drawings, and motion sheets as required to document the above, direct CAD work and provide presentation materials. • Initiate internal concept review and brainstorming meetings. • Obtain vendor quotations on critical equipment. o Develop technical specifications. o Identify qualified vendors. o Communicate with vendors via phone, fax, and email to provide line-ups, develop alternative solutions, receive, and clarify quotations.Identify and resolve problems. o Work with technical and commercial experts as required. o Obtain outside/vendor technical assistance o Alert management to critical unresolved issues in a timely manner. • Maintain accurate project documentation. • Finalize and transmit the project on schedule. • Responsible for the technical quality within the project team of assigned projects. • Understands customer specifications and objective of the project. • Execute the timeline for the project per the customer requirements. • Adhere to the project budget. • Capable of communicating to the various divisions (electrical, mechanical), in the company, and ensuring their understanding of the tasks at hand. • Interface with and provide support to all operational departments including Manufacturing, Sales, Service, and Applications. • Address all customer concerns and requirements. • Regular reporting of project progress and status to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor MX and Mechanical Engineering Manager • Collaborate with supplier and subcontractor relations on projects. • Responsible for the delivery of all the as built drawings, bill of materials, manuals, and documentation to the customer. • Support customer change orders. • Participate in all project meetings related to Mechanical Engineering. • Review the overall performance of the project with departmental managers and provide input on how GRG can make improvements for future projects. • Serve as the Mechanical Project Engineer on projects as needed.
