Main purpose of the role:Strategic direction: Drive strategic & tactical decisions for plant’s Maintenance and align resources to deliver key functional objectives in alignment with TU strategic goalsEffective maintenance: Maximize reliability and effectiveness through enforcing effective maintenance, repairs and overhauls practices while optimizing for costCommon engineering standards: Promote and ensure adherence to defined engineering and maintenance standards Capital projects management: Drive execution of plant-led capital projects adhereing defined standards; support execution of BU-led capital projects People: Motivate, lead and challenge team members to reach / exceed plant and individual targets and objectives. Improve and sustain employee engagement scores to be within the top quartile. Develop strong internal leadership pipeline and set positive working culture with teams across Thai UnionThe Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, maintenance, optimization, and reliability of high-speed can manufacturing and packaging machinery. This role is critical in ensuring the plant's operational efficiency, maximizing asset reliability, and promoting adherence to defined engineering and maintenance standards.Key Accountabilities:I. Strategic Leadership & Financial ManagementDefine Strategy & KPIs: Establish and coordinate Plant Maintenance KPIs and targets in alignment with the Ambient/Packaging Business Unit (BU) Engineering & Maintenance strategy.Budget & Cost Control: Propose, monitor, and manage the annual budget for maintenance, repairs, and overhauls. Proactively propose and drive actions to control and reduce utility costs in line with BU targets.Strategic Input: Provide expert input on the BU's Engineering and Maintenance technology roadmap, new solution designs, and strategic 'in-house vs. outsource' decisions for maintenance activities.II. Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering OperationsMaintenance Execution Oversight: Coordinate with Production and support functions to schedule and oversee all planned maintenance, repairs, and overhauls (including production lines, utilities, civil works, and facilities). Manage manpower and workload for effective execution.Reliability & RCA: Develop, implement, and monitor Preventative and Predictive Maintenance (PdM/PM) programs. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on chronic failures to identify and implement permanent corrective actions, thereby maximizing asset uptime.Engineering Standards & Compliance: Promote and ensure strict adherence to common engineering and maintenance standards. Support engineering audits and the standardization of work instructions (WIs) / Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) across the plant.Engineering Design & Optimization: Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems and modifications using CAD to improve efficiency and reduce waste (e.g., equipment changeovers, line modifications).Documentation & Spares: Oversee spare parts management (budgeting, requisition, and withdrawal). Ensure all technical documentation, including site layouts, technical drawings, and engineering specifications, is accurately maintained.III. Capital Project & People LeadershipCapital Project Management: Propose capital projects to the BU team. Collaborate on planning and provide technical support to execute BU-led and plant-led capital projects, ensuring schedule adherence, budget compliance, and coordination with Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment teams.Team Leadership & Culture: Motivate, lead, and challenge the maintenance team to meet or exceed business objectives. Foster a culture of continuous learning and high performance.Talent Management: Drive career development paths, performance management, and succession planning to attract, develop, and retain quality talent.Continuous Improvement: Champion and drive Maintenance Excellence / Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives throughout the plant in line with BU guidance.Collaboration: Collaborate with other Plant functions to implement changes to machinery and utilities that improve manufacturing capabilities, quality, and compliance.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related technical field.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably within a high-speed manufacturing environment such as Can Manufacturing, Beverage/Food Packaging, or related continuous process industry.CAD Proficiency: Expert use of 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) for design and drafting. Equipment Expertise: Strong knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes, motors) and packaging machinery (fillers, seamers, conveyors). Analysis: Experience performing engineering calculations (e.g., stress, fluid dynamics, heat transfer) and conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Materials: Familiarity with various packaging materials (metals) and their relevant manufacturing processes.Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues quickly. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with maintenance technicians, production teams, and external suppliers. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and budget goals are met. Safety Focus: Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to all safety protocols.Proficient in English.Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineering (PE) license or actively pursuing certification. Experience with precision machinery/tooling specific to the metal can making or sealing process. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, TPM).
