Job Description: Mechanical SupervisorLocation: Yekepa, Liberia / Site-based and rotationalJob Type: Full-time / Fixed-term1. Role PurposeThe Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for leading the mechanical maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all fixed plant equipment within the iron ore concentrator. The role oversees daily maintenance activities, ensures adherence to maintenance plans, and drives continuous improvement in equipment performance and plant availability.2. Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & SupervisionLead and supervise a team of mechanical fitters and artisans. Allocate daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure quality workmanship. Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to team members. Conduct toolbox talks, shift handovers, and safety briefings. Maintenance Execution Oversee mechanical maintenance on key equipment, including:Crushers, screens, conveyors, and feeders Ball mills / SAG mills Pumps, thickeners, agitators, and piping systems Gearboxes, rotating equipment, lubrication systems Ensure timely completion of preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance. Review job cards, ensure proper documentation, and update the CMMS. Assist with troubleshooting complex equipment failures and root-cause analysis. Planning & CoordinationWork closely with maintenance planners to schedule tasks and shutdowns. Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams during maintenance activities. Ensure required spares, tools, and materials are available for planned work. Prepare work packs and ensure job readiness prior to execution. Plant Reliability & Technical SupportIdentify recurring issues and recommend reliability improvements. Support mill relines, overhauls, rebuilds, and major shutdown projects. Participate in equipment inspections and condition monitoring reviews. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to increase plant uptime. Safety & ComplianceEnforce strict adherence to safety standards, LOTO, permit-to-work, and risk assessments. Ensure work is conducted in compliance with mechanical and industrial safety regulations. Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions. Promote a zero-harm culture and lead by example. 3. Qualifications & ExperienceEssentialTrade Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. 10 years experience in mechanical maintenance within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry. Previous experience supervising a mechanical maintenance team. Strong understanding of crushers, conveyors, pumps, mills, rotating equipment, and fixed plant systems. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications. Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills. DesirableExperience in iron ore concentrators or large continuous processing plants. Shutdown planning and execution experience. Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP, OnKey, Pragma, etc.). Basic understanding of reliability engineering tools (RCM, RCA, lubrication analysis, etc.). 4.
