We are looking for a motivated professional with a background in robotics or mechatronics to join our dynamic team, contributing to the manufacturing, planning, and design of advanced solutions for fusion energy. In this pivotal role, you will develop high-precision technologies for handling, characterizing, and manufacturing fusion targets under challenging vacuum and cryogenic conditions. Become part of a collaborative team, where vibrant teamwork and innovation drive us to develop world-changing technology.What You’ll DoLead, organize, or support projects from initial concept through realization and beyondConduct concept studies and risk assessments for emerging technologiesSet and gather requirements for projectsDesign control systems, complete machines, and verification equipmentOversee the commissioning of designed productsCollaborate with the team to develop novel solutionsWho You AreBachelor’s degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related fieldMaster’s degree preferredPrior job experience is a plus but not mandatoryFluent in English (both spoken and written)Strong knowledge of mechanical design theory, especially motion systems and roboticsExtensive experience with CAD designIn-depth understanding of mechatronic systemsBasic knowledge of electrical design and componentsBasic programming skills in C++ and/or PythonFamiliarity with ROS/ROS2 preferredExperience with FEM analysis (structural and thermal) is a plusHands-on skills for assembling machines, robots, and test equipmentAbility to be on-site in Darmstadt for critical project phases is requiredExcellent communication skills and a clear, concise communication styleAbility to work independently and remain goal-orientedMethodical, organized, and proactive in problem-solving and decision-makingStrong hands-on mentality with attention to project detailsAdaptable with a startup mindset, thriving in changeCollaborative team player who enjoys partnering with colleagues to achieve shared goalsReady to make an impact?
