Job OverviewAre you an organised, compassionate, and detail-oriented individual looking to support a dynamic clinical team? We are seeking a Medical Secretary to join our Integrated Medicine Team, providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth running of patient care services.Main duties of the jobThe Principle Accountabilities Of This Post ArePlan own day to day tasks and dutiesUndertake routine typing and audio typing of clinical correspondencePrioritise results, organise clinical activity and patient admissionsLiaise with patients, GP's and other Health Boards/Trusts to arrange ongoing treatment and care. Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Good standard of education. Comprehensive knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.Desirable criteriaECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or similar qualification. Knowledge of University Health Board procedures. Medical Secretary qualification eg. AMSPAR.ExperienceEssential criteriaPrevious experience in a secretarial role. Experience of working in a busy environment. Ability to prioritise and manage own workload. Knowledge of the Welsh PAS (Myrddin) system.Desirable criteriaExperience of working in a hospital environment. Experience of supervising staff.Aptitude And AbilitiesEssential criteriaExcellent keyboard and audio typing skills. Excellent communication and telephone skills. Able to deal with patients and relatives in a sympathetic manner. Ability to deal with staff at all levels. Confidentiality and diplomacy. Excellent organisational and time management skills.Desirable criteriaSetting up office systems. Ability to take shorthand.
