Middle Office Database Analyst/Developer - Vice President

Job DescriptionAbout the Role:Jefferies International's Middle Office Development team is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated professional to join our Middle Office team. This hands-on role requires strong technical capabilities combined with banking operations knowledge to lead data-driven projects and investigations.Looking for 5+ years of experience—preferably within the financial services sector. You will play a key role in designing and supporting our flagship middle office system.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead and execute middle office projects and investigations independentlyAnalyze and manipulate large datasets using SQL Server and other database systemsDevelop solutions and automation using a programming language such as Python, Java, or C#Diagnose and optimize database performance through query plan analysisSupport back office processing operations and identify improvement opportunitiesEnsure data integrity and accuracy across the platformGain a thorough understanding of the data that moves through the systemDesign, develop, and deploy high-quality code to address bug fixes, system enhancements, and new feature implementation based on business needs.Collaborate within an Agile environment, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.Engage in system analysis and troubleshooting to maintain optimal performance and reliability.Document technical specifications and support the migration, integration, and deployment processes.Work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.Desired Skills And ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience working with SQL and large datasetsThe ability to investigate and work with large datasets.Proven expertise in SQL Server (primary requirement)Experience with database indexing strategies and performance tuning.Strong experience in troubleshooting and an advanced knowledge of diagnosing query plans and database optimization techniquesExperience working in Agile environments, with familiarity in using tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.Experience in at least one of: Python, Java, or C#Experience with additional database systems (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing conceptsProficient in scripting.
