Mining Operation Department Head

Responsibilities:Lead and oversee mining operations: Manage day-to-day mining activities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible extraction of gold.Develop and implement mining strategies: Assist in formulating and execute short- and long-term strategies to optimize resource extraction, increase productivity, and ensure sustainability.Ensure safety compliance: Maintain high standards of safety for all personnel and operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.Develop relationships: Build and maintain high levels of communications with Mine Technical Services, Geology, Processing and other departments to ensure alignment across the business.Team management: Supervise and lead Operational teams, ensuring effective performance, coordination, and development of team members.Contractor management: Manage day to day activities of multiple contractors ensuring performance is aligned with company safety and production requirements. Build Contractor capacity and efficiency through implementation of continues improvement strategiesBudget and resource management: Prepare and manage operational budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and projects are completed within budget and on schedule.Monitor project progress: Track mining progress, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to project timelines and goals.Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with external stakeholders, including government authorities, local communities, and suppliers, to ensure smooth operations and community engagement.Prepare reports: Create detailed reports on mining performance, operational challenges, financial outcomes, and environmental impact for senior management.Ensure compliance with regulations: Ensure that all mining operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.Representation: Represent the company in public forums, industry conferences, and meetings with external partners and stakeholders.Other duties as assigned.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Minimum 8 years of experience in mining operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role. Experience in the gold mining industry is highly preferred.Proven leadership and project management experience in mining operations, with a focus on safety, productivity, and team performance.Strong knowledge of mining regulations and standards, including safety, environmental, and compliance guidelines.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government, local communities, and suppliers.Proficient in mining software (e.g., MineSight, AutoCAD, or similar), project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.Experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and team supervision.Ability to solve complex problems in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.Awareness of corporate safety and environmental standards, with a commitment to ensuring that operations meet or exceed those standards.
