Fund VIII represents an increase in fund size of more than 50% from Fund VII (raised in 2020) and puts MSCP in a strong position to continue investing anddeploying the Firm’s operationally-focused value creation strategy over the coming years.MSCP is seeking to recruit an Associate to expand the scope of the Portfolio Value Creation Team.This role will work collaboratively with MSCP’s portfolio companies and Investment Team. In this role, the Associate will partner with multiple portfolio companies through the course of MSCP’sinvestment to drive value creation through hands-on operational change. Core responsibilities will include developing value creation plans, working closely with portfolio company management teams to identify opportunities, and leading analytical problem-solving to support revenue growth, margin expansion, post-merger integration, and overall platform-building. The Associate will be a key team member supporting portfolio company management teams and the broader MSCP team to drive value creation and will have significant exposure throughout the portfolio. The role may include travel 30-50% of the time across the United States.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Associate will work closely with MSCP’s portfolio company management teams and broader Value Creation and Investment teams to drive operational change and equity value creation. The Associate will have the unique ability to work across industries and portfolio companies, to build relationships with portfolio company management teams, develop value creation expertise, and ultimately contribute to MSCP’s investment performance. The Associate role is based in New York, with possible progression into senior roles in the portfolio companies or at MSCP.Driving Value Creation in the Portfolio (80% of total)Work with portfolio company management teams and MSCP team to drive operational value creation across the portfolioSpecific projects will vary in focus area and duration based on the areas of greatest opportunity within the portfolio – example projects include:Driving day-to-day project management of key strategic projects and priorities with the management team, board, and MSCPBuilding the business case and leading the analysis / implementation of key revenue growth initiatives (e.g., strategic pricing, sales team effectiveness, new product / market entry)Building and executing a plan for post-merger integration of add-on acquisitions to drive growth and synergiesAnalyzing company cost structures and identifying opportunities for efficiency as the company scalesSupporting portfolio company CEOs to identify and quantify broader and longer-term strategic prioritiesAssisting with Due Diligence and Value Creation Planning (10% of total)Support the investment team in conducting due diligence of new investments (e.g., team evaluation, market / commercial due diligence, analysis of company performance)Support the MSCP Value Creation Partner / Principal in developing the 5-year Value Creation Plan and executing on near-term post-close prioritiesOther Portfolio Support and Monitoring (10% of total)Monitor ongoing company performance and adjust value creation prioritiesSupport portfolio company Exit processes and development of sell-side materialsProfessional Qualifications3-5 years of relevant work experience, ideally a combination of top-tier management consulting and operational transformation / leadership rolesRelevant undergraduate degree and strong academic performanceStrong track record of success in current and prior rolesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, structured and logical thinkerAbility to prioritize and work across multiple workstreams, ability to manage multiple stakeholders with a focus on delivering valueGeneral experience with strategy and operational value creation, (focus in areas including sales, marketing effectiveness, pricing, post-merger integration, synergy execution, etc.)Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with a variety of stakeholdersBroad company / sector experience preferred, ideally including experience in the services- based sectors where MSCP investsExperience with private equity value creation / the ability to think like an investorPersonal QualificationsStrong intellectual curiosity and the desire to solve problemsStructured thinker – ability to effectively diagnose issues, break them down into their component parts, and then use data / information to solve problemsStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to build relationships across portfolio company management teams of different styles and tenuresCollaborative and collegial – wants to be part of a close-knit teamHighly motivated and energetic – wants to work together to find the best outcomeEntrepreneurial and hands-on – excited to roll up their sleeves and be resourceful to find the right solutionsHigh degree of professional integrity and business judgment – always ensure they are doing what is right for MSCP’s investors and portfolio companiesHumble, low-ego, high-EQ with the ability to connect and build strong relationshipsWhat You Can Expect From Morgan StanleyWe are committed to maintaining the first-class service and high standard of excellence that have defined Morgan Stanley for over 89 years.
