.Posted 4 hours agoMIDLANDS STATE UNIVERSITYSTAFF VACANCYApplications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the following posts:MSU RETAIL SHOPPOST A: LOSS CONTROL ASSISTANT (3 POSTS)QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE At least 5 ‘O’ levels including English Language At least a Diploma/Degree in Risk Management and Insurance At least 2 years’ experience in the Loss Control operating CCTV At least one year work experience in retail FMCG is an added advantage.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssisting the Loss Control Supervisor with the day-to-day risk management aspects of the store and drive the shop’s productivity and ensuring appropriate strategies to eliminate, avoid, or minimize the impact of risk to the allocated shop. Must minimize store’s loss of inventory due to theft, error, shoplifting, or fraudulent activity. Monitoring adherence to a standard operating procedure to avoid cases of shoplifting, vandalism, counterfeiting, robbery, burglary, and store safety.Constantly liaising with all departments and ensuring that losses through expiries, shoplifting, and theft by staff, breakages and production shrinkage are maintained within the targeted levels. Ensuring that controls are adhered to during the movement of stock, from receiving, warehousing, merchandising and transfers to other departments and other stores.Assists in overseeing the stock take processes, ensuring that the stock counts are done at scheduled dates, results of which are captured accordingly.Managing expiries and breakages, ensuring stock integrity is maintained at all timesCarrying out any other relevant functions as assignedPOST B: COUNTERHAND FRUIT AND VEGETABLES (1 POST)QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEAt least 5 ‘O’ Levels including English language At least a Certificate/ Diploma in Marketing or Retail ManagementAt least two years working experience as a Counterhand in the Fruit and Vegetable Section in FMCG retail sectorDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Counterhand is responsible for attaining set sales targets by serving customers with speed and accuracy, demonstrating excellent product knowledge & high levels of professionalism when dealing with customers.Effectively & efficiently implement service department processes to ensure smooth order fulfilment at all times. Efficiently & effectively implements departmental plans and adhere to set service delivery turnaround times aimed at achieving number of products sold and customer count target. Delivers excellent standards of customer service at all times by listening, understanding and dealing with customer queries in a confident, professional, knowledgeable and friendly manner. Actively acquires and shares customer feedback with management during scheduled meetings and debriefing sessions. Executes product merchandising in line with the agreed plan as communicated by the Supervisor from time to time, creating excitement and increased sales.Conducts regular freshness checks daily to ensure the merchandised products meet the expected quality at all times, cognizant of the fact that the service department section makes or breaks the customer experience. Conducts daily price checks and updates the price talkers.Adheres to the set housekeeping and hygiene standards of the Service department. Ensures that Chillers are cleaned daily and the workstation is cleaned and tidy at all times.Adheres to and implements cleaning schedules as communicated by the Supervisor from time to time. Carrying out any other relevant functions as assignedPOST C: CARCASS CUTTER (1 POST)QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEAt least 5 ‘O’ levels At least 2 years of working experience in the Retail Butchery Section.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESExecute daily production plans and ensure consistent, high-quality output of all butchery product lines.Maintain hygiene, clean tools/equipment, and ensure attractive displays with accurate signage.Deliver excellent customer service through friendly interaction and prompt handling of queries.Review stock daily, package products properly, and ensure hygienic storage to prevent wastage.Control costs, implement shrinkage-reduction measures, and maintain department budget.Conduct daily freshness and price checks, updating price talkers accordingly.Assist with merchandising plans to drive sales and enhance customer experience.Adhere to hygiene, safety, and equipment operation standards to minimize hazards.Share customer feedback, attend debriefs and participate in staff development sessions.Perform any other duties as assigned.POST D: GENERAL HAND – GROUNDSMAN ( 2 POSTS)QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEAt least 5 ‘O’ levels At least 2 years’ experience in a similar post.Work experience in retail FMCG industry is an added advantage.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintaining the condition and appearance of lawns, grounds and practice fields.Laying out and doing landscapingMowing, watering, and fertilizing lawns.Planting, trimming, mulching and fertilizing flowers, shrubs and trees.Keeping grounds free from harmful objects and leaves by using equipment such as blowers.Keeping facilities and surrounding areas free from trash, litter, debris and weeds.Cleaning and maintaining equipment and materials.Performing other duties as required.POST E: SHELF PACKER / MERCHANDISER (3 POSTS)QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE At least 5 ‘O’ levels including Mathematics and EnglishAt least 1 year of working experience in a similar position in the retail FMCG sector.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESExecuting merchandising plans as directed by the Floor Supervisor.Maintaining product quality through daily expiry, freshness, and price checks.Keeping shelves clean, tidy, and well-stocked, removing damaged or expired items.Assisting customers professionally, promoting upselling and cross-selling.Staying informed on daily promotions and applying product knowledge effectively.Upholding high standards of personal grooming and hygiene.Demonstrating strong time management, communication, initiative, and teamwork.Performing additional duties as assigned.POST F : CCTV OPERATOR (2 POSTS)QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEAt least 5 ‘O’ level subjects.At least a Certificate in Computer Training/ International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL)At least 1 year working experience in a similar position in retail FMCG industry or as a Security Guard. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMonitor and operate all surveillance systems efficiently, ensuring compliance with company procedures and legal regulations.Record incidents and actions accurately and legibly.Maintain control room security and report equipment failures promptly.Handle radio/telephone communications and respond to inquiries professionally.Liaise with staff and security agencies, providing evidence and reports as needed.Monitor CCTV and access control systems in real time to detect and respond to threats or breaches.Perform regular system checks and ensure equipment functionality.Analyze footage, conduct investigations, and prepare detailed incident reports.Support law enforcement with evidence and witness statements when required.Carry out additional duties as assigned.POST G: BUYING ASSISTANT (1 POST)QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEAt least 5 ‘O’ level subjects At least a Diploma in Purchasing & Supply Chain ManagementAt least 1 year working experience in a similar position in Retail FMCG industryDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyse customer buying patterns, understand seasonal trends, predict future trends and use scientific ordering to ensure zero stockouts on shelf. Sends out enquiries for appropriate materials, collate and analyse quotations, place order with suitable suppliers for specified materials, ensuring goods are delivered on the required date and purchased at the most competitive rates and within budget. Ensure quality and performance of goods purchased are in line with required standards. Promptly provide supplier feedback whenever any trade issues arise Stock Management Account for all stocks at the store. Ensure that there are clearly defined timelines for stock counts and that all variances are reported to the Store Manager. Controls to manage shrinkage through theft, damages and expiry.Ensure Product Merchandising Manage shop lay-out and product mix on the shelves in liaison with Shop Manager and Floor Supervisor.
