This role will be embedded in an OPP detachment within Grey and Bruce Counties (Wiarton, Chatsworth, Kincardine/Walkerton) and will respond with uniform officers to assist with de-escalation, community referrals, diversion, and appropriate facilitation of transition to acute care where required to help ensure positive outcomes for the individual. The MSW or MHC-M will also act as a resource to officers, as necessary.This role will include duties and responsibilities specific to both live calls with police, as well as referral-based follow-up support to individuals and caregivers/family members, and system navigation/service coordination, as well as support for short-term (transitional) case management services.This position involves shift work, specifically days/evenings and requires travel within the catchment area of Grey and Bruce Counties, either co-responding in a personal vehicle or riding in a police vehicle.RequiredQualifications / Skills / Abilities:MswMaster’s degree in Social Work and membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)Mhc-mMaster’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or a related health or Social Science fieldCurrent registration in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)BothMinimum 5 years recent experience working in the community with individuals with significant mental health needs and substance use disordersMust be able to pass Level 4 Security Clearance (OPP)Excellent knowledge of community resources in Grey and Bruce CountiesKnowledge of a range of crisis prevention and intervention approaches including: crisis prevention strategies, crisis planning, safety planning, crisis intervention, risk assessment, relapse prevention strategies, crisis services and hospital servicesBasic computer skillsAnalytical and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle and respect confidential information with tact and diplomacy are essentialP.I. training up to dateP.R. – basic certificationValid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license and access to reliable transportationAbility to work cooperatively in a team settingExperience with law enforcement/corrections is an assetBilingual in both official languages is an assetAble to work all shiftsRecent satisfactory performance and attendance recordAdherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and ‘LEAD’ Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others) and a commitment to a safe workplace free of violence and harassmentAdvocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
