Job Description

The Associate Manager for Tours and Education leads the development, delivery, and evaluation of the Museum’s tours, educational programs, events and overall visitor engagement. This role ensures that all visitor-facing experiences are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with the institution’s mission. The role oversees a team of Tours and Education Associates and front desk personnel, consolidates programs, strengthens institutional partnerships, and uses data-driven insights to grow audience reach and participation. Program Development and Management of Museum ActivitiesDesign, implement, consolidate, and evaluate the Museum’s tour and education programs, ensuring they are historically accurate, creative, engaging, and audience-relevantDevelop and refine interpretive materials, tour scripts, learning modules, and activity guides for various age groups and audience types.Conduct tours and implement activities for museum guests, sponsors, and visitors. Lead or support specialized, VIP, and high-level tours.Organize Art workshops for adults and facilitate pocket educational programs.Develop age-appropriate, inclusive, and accessible learning experiences for various audiences (students, teachers, families, adult learners, special interest groups, etc.)Coordinate with Curatorial, Exhibitions, and Program teams to integrate educational components into museum projects and exhibitionsPartnerships, Outreach, and Digital EngagementBuild and maintain partnerships and relationships with schools, universities, cultural institutions, tourism networks, community partners, and others to increase museum visibility and foot trafficLead outreach campaigns and communications to promote tours and educational programs.Represent the museum in community and institutional networks.Coordinate with marketing and communications to ensure Tours and Education activities are effectively promoted on social media and digital platforms.Explore innovative ways to integrate technology into tours and educational offerings.Analytics and Data ManagementUtilize visitor data, analytics, and profiling tools to understand audience behaviors, trends and enhance programming and visitorshipMonitor and assess program effectiveness through visitor feedback, attendance data, and impact evaluations.Prepare and analyze data reports, budgets, work plans, and insights to help guide strategic decisions.Leadership and Team ManagementSupervise, train, mentor, and evaluate museum educators, tour guides, front desk personnel, and volunteers to ensure consistent quality of interpretation and visitor engagementSchedule tour and program assignments to ensure consistent coverage and smooth operations.Oversee team training in tour delivery, customer service, museum content, and visitor engagement techniques.Conduct regular workshops and assessments to improve facilitation, storytelling, and customer service skills.Foster a collaborative, positive, and growth-oriented work environment.Ensure team adherence to museum policies, procedures, and service standards.QUALIFICATIONSAt least Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, Art History, Advertising arts, History, Education, Tourism, Anthropology or related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in museum education, tours, visitor engagement, or cultural programming.Proven leadership or supervisory experienceWilling to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings (work schedule of Tue-Sat from 10am-7pm)
