National Health & Safety Manager – New ZealandAuckland (North Shore or Penrose), Wellington (Lower Hutt) or ChristchurchFull-time, Permanent$Competitive Salary + Company BenefitsShirley Parsons is seeking a National Health & Safety Manager to join a leading logistics and transportation organisation operating across New Zealand. This is a pivotal role for an experienced H&S professional who can combine strategic leadership with hands-on assurance activities, driving continuous improvement and fostering a strong safety culture across a multi-site business.Reporting to the Regional H&S Lead – Oceania, you will partner with senior leaders to deliver agreed H&S strategic goals, maintain ISO45001 certification, and ensure compliance with New Zealand’s legislative framework. Acting as the primary point of contact for H&S advice and guidance, you’ll coach managers on “what good looks like” and simplify complex requirements into practical solutions.Key Responsibilities:Maintain and enhance the Oceania H&S programme to ensure legal compliance and ISO45001 certificationAct as custodian of H&S data accuracy and reporting, using trend analysis to drive improvementPrepare governance reports and provide insights for continual improvementCoach and mentor managers to embed H&S practices into daily operationsDevelop and deliver training and awareness programmes to build capabilityFacilitate worker engagement forums to encourage participation and feedbackImplement and oversee annual assurance programmes, celebrating successes and identifying improvement opportunitiesConduct independent verification activities under the 3 lines of defence modelThe successful National H&S Manager will have:Formal qualification in Health & Safety (Level 6 or higher)Membership of NZISM or similar professional bodyMinimum 5 years’ practical H&S experience in transport/logistics or multi-site operationsStrong understanding of New Zealand H&S legislation and ACC requirementsExperience with ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards (ideal but not essential)Excellent communication and influencing skills at all organisational levelsProven ability to deliver H&S training and simplify complex requirementsCompetent in Office 365 and data analysis for reportingAbout Shirley Parsons:Shirley Parsons is a global recruitment consultancy specialising in Health & Safety, Quality, Environment & Sustainability.
