About LihirOur Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. If so, we want you on our team!As an Advisor – People Training (Mining), you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the capabilities of our workforce.
You’ll design and deliver high-impact training programs for heavy equipment operators, including Haul Trucks, Auxiliary Equipment, and Loading Equipment. Your work will directly contribute to safe, productive operations and a culture of continuous learning. Essential DutiesDevelops training materials, delivers training, and aligns with Newmont standards, Industry standards, and HSE standards. This includes, but is not limited to, all training relevant to Heavy Equipment Operations. Creates opportunities for people to work together to enable them to contribute to the business and learn from each other. Deliver theory and 'on-the-job' training for all operators in various sections.
Communicate training plans to the Team Lead and PeersConducts field observations and engagement with Operational Supervisors and Superintendents to understand the skill gap of employees and the business needs. Using that understanding to then modify training curricula to bridge the gap to ensure employees are fully developed upon completion of the training to contribute to safe production. Drives and influences proactive safety and productive behaviors. Ensures the recording of data into the LMS (Learning Management System) as required. Prepares resource requests (PPE, Tools, Materials, etc) of their work area and justification for the Team Lead for review.
Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities. Training & ExperienceProven records of work experience in Open Pit Mine Operations as an operator, supervisor, or trainer. Certificate III in Training & Assessment or equivalent. Expertise in Heavy Equipment Operations and adult learning principles. Strong facilitation, presentation, and curriculum development skills. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and learning databases. PNG Class 6 & 7 Driver’s License. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Working ConditionsWillingness to work a 22: 20 FIFO roster. Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment. Must provide a valid Police Clearance issued within the last six months.
