About LihirOur Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course.

PurposeAt Newmont, we value diversity, inclusion, and bringing out the best in each other. Join our Lihir HSE – Environment Monitoring team and contribute to protecting our environment while supporting sustainable mining operations. What You’ll DoConduct environmental sampling, documentation, and monitoring against internal and external standards. Prepare and maintain sampling equipment for accurate data collection. Maintain and report environmental data in compliance with quality standards.

Assist in interpreting sampling data and preparing preliminary reports. Conduct field inspections and support environmental events, sampling, and clean-up activities. Contribute to internal and external reporting and planning to meet regulatory commitments. What We’re Looking ForQualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related fields. 3–5 years’ experience in environmental monitoring within the mining, oil & gas industries. Knowledge of environmental legislation, risk management, and monitoring standards. Experience in equipment calibration, data documentation, and SAP systems. Ability to lead or contribute to a productive team environment. Understanding of environmental risks associated with gold mining operations.

Working ConditionsMust be open to FIFO in PNG. Ability to complete pre-employment medical assessment.
