HSE Consult thrives on delivering innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of each client, ensuring optimal outcomes.Role DescriptionThis is a 24-month, on-site role for an Occupational Hygienist, based in Limpopo Province. The Occupational Hygienist will be responsible for assessing workplace environments to ensure compliance with the MHSA and related health and safety regulations, conducting evaluations of indoor air quality, and implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks. The position involves analysing air and environmental quality data, developing health and safety strategies, and providing technical advice on industrial hygiene. Additional responsibilities include preparing detailed reports, conducting risk assessments, and providing training to enhance workplace safety practices.Skills & CompetenciesProficiency in Indoor Air Quality and Air Quality management, with strong analytical skills to assess environmental factors.Knowledge and experience in Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.Sound understanding of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) principles and MHSA regulatory requirements, with reference to the role of a section 12.1 appointee.Establishing, maintaining, and recording occupational hygiene measurements related to stressors like airborne pollutants, noise, thermal stress (heat and cold).Reporting to the employer on the adequacy of existing procedures and the assessment of worker exposure to health hazards.Reporting on the adequacy of procedures related to explosions, fires, and flooding.Ensuring that statutory reports on personal exposure monitoring are submitted to the respective regional offices of the Mine Health and Safety Inspectorate of the Department of Mineral Resources. Excellent problem-solving and report-writing abilities.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide training and collaborate effectively with teams.QualificationsSAIOH registered Occupational HygienistTertiary qualification in a relevant science or engineering field and five years of comprehensive occupational hygiene experience. Experience in the mining, construction, petrochemical, or industrial sectors is beneficial.
