Job Description

Role PurposeThe Health & Safety Officer will provide competent safety advice and practical guidance to all departments. The role requires routine field visits to monitor ongoing work, identify unsafe acts and conditions, take action to stop unsafe work when necessary, and follow up on corrective actions. The officer will report critical issues to the Plant H&S Supervisor.Key ResponsibilitiesFollow up on the implementation of corporate H&S programs.Conduct plant-specific safety inductions.Prepare safety alerts and lessons learned for significant incidents.Assess operational risks and advise relevant departments.Participate in accident/incident investigations.Maintain and prepare H&S statistics for the assigned department.Implement and monitor correct PPE usage, maintenance, and storage.Provide advice and support for high-risk activities including:Confined spaceWorking at heightsWork on live equipmentHot work in hazardous areasCritical liftingMonitor the implementation of the Permit to Work (PTW) system.Manage departmental tracking tools.Support daily operations meetings.Assist incident investigations (WHY tree / RCA).Coach operations/maintenance teams on JSA and PTW.Conduct joint inspections with Operations Supervisors.Review Management of Change (MOC) documents.Develop and share monthly toolbox talk materials and H&S statistics.Support HSE meetings and present dashboards.Conduct compliance audits (Noise, Radiation, Heat, etc.).Support loss prevention team in emergency response drills.Provide shutdown support (SMPs and RMs), including PTW support.Track and follow closure of actions on the portal.Physically verify action closures where required.Verify correct application of isolation procedures.Monitor contractor H&S compliance.Ensure legislation, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures are implemented during field operations.Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line manager.Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Science or 3-year technical diploma from a recognized institutionNEBOSH IGC CertificationExperience5-8 years of relevant experience.Working knowledge of risk assessment techniques.Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.Hands on experience in Steel or Oil&Gas or heavy manufacturing industries.
