Company DescriptionIn 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West Project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown. Security ManagerJob SummaryReporting to the General Manager, the Mine Manager will lead the development and operations of a large-scale greenfield mining project in Guyana. This role will oversee both open pit and underground mining operations, managing a team across Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance, Mine Engineering, and Geology. The operation is projected to mine up to 45 million tonnes per annum, producing approximately 350,000 troy ounces of gold per year using a truck and shovel method.

As the Mine Manager, you will be instrumental in transitioning the project from development to full production while ensuring operational excellence, safety, environmental compliance, and cost-effective production. Working ConditionsThe Security Manager position at the OKO West project site in Guyana will be a rotation-based role, offering flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the successful candidate’s location and personal preferences. A 23 on/19 off rotation is preferred. Key Responsibilities Oversee and implement production programs and operations to maximize production efficiency and resourcesDevelop and execute overall strategy for mine development based on input from other departments and personnel.

Review data, such as maps, survey reports, and geological records, and meet with engineering, maintenance, and supervisory departments to plan and direct mine development. Analyze records and reports, such as ore grade, safety, operational costs and potential income estimates to ensure that all programs are on target. Stay up to date with mining laws and safety regulations, and issue directives to direct reports to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations. Set production budget using information from the overall mine budget and business plan targets.

Establish production targets and monitor their achievement and correct or address issues as they arise. Lead the Mine Maintenance DepartmentDevelopment, implementation and upkeep of the Maintenance Planning System towards achieving world class maintenance management practices. Accountable for ensuring that safe working conditions are maintained throughout the mine including equipment, roadways, benches, berms and highwalls. Develops strategy for the maintenance function and ensures maintenance plans are executed in order to meet targets Act as a member of the Senior Management team to develop and achieve the overall strategy and goals of the mine.

Provide top-level support and advice to the management team. Contribute to the management team to set the direction and establish the mid- to long-term operations and project development plans for the mine production and maintenance departments. Provide advice to the management team regarding the development and implementation of the overall mine budget. Act as the expert within the site on mine production and maintenance processes and practices. Identify options and implement actions to adopt best practices for mine production. Team Leadership & DevelopmentProvide strategic leadership and operational direction for both open pit and underground mining activities.

Oversee the development and implementation of short- and long-term mine plans in collaboration with the Engineering and Geology teams. Ensure the effective coordination of mine operations, maintenance, engineering, and geology to optimize productivity and ore recovery. Manage the implementation of the truck and shovel mining method and ensure optimal fleet utilization and maintenance. Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a strong safety culture and high-performance environment. Provide leadership to project teams during construction and commissioning to ensure smooth ramp-up to steady-state operations.

Provide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business plans and production targets. Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the current and future requirements of the mine. Ensure the required manpower and equipment are in place to achieve planned production, while meeting planned costs. Manage performance by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching direct reports. Promote and maintain a high-performance culture. Qualifications And Skill Requirements Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications, or EquivalentsBachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred). Related professional designation or certification.

Working ExperienceMinimum 15 years of progressive experience in large-scale mining operations, with at least 5 years in a Mine Manager or equivalent senior leadership role. Proven experience managing both open pit and underground operations in a high-tonnage environment. Additional Qualifications – Competency RequirementsStrong understanding of truck and shovel mining methodologies and mine maintenance strategies. Extensive experience in mine planning, scheduling, cost control, and performance optimization. Experience with greenfield mine development and ramp-up to production is highly desirable. Solid leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a remote or international environment.

Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. Strong leadership and managerial skills, ability to impact and influence managementHigh degree of business acumenStrong communication and interpersonal skillsWillingness to work in a remote location on a rotation or residential basis. Familiarity with mining regulations and cultural practices in Guyana or similar jurisdictions is an asset. Proficiency with mine planning and operational software (e. g. , Deswik, Surpac, MineSight, or similar).
