Job Description

Our ProfileIn 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

To Ensure The Achievement Of This Large-scale Project, G Mining Ventures Is Looking For An Experienced And Motivated Individual To Fill The Position OfMining EngineerThe Senior Mining Engineer will play a critical role in the planning, design, and the management of the mining operations, ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective extraction of minerals. This position requires advanced technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of mining processes and systems. Key ResponsibilitiesMining Planning and Design: Lead the development of mining plans, designs, and schedules for underground or open-pit mining operations.

Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments, ensuring alignment with budget, safety, and environmental standards. Develop and optimize drilling and blasting techniques, mine layouts, and equipment requirements. Provide technical guidance for resource estimation, pit optimization, and extraction strategies. Project Management Oversee and manage the execution of mining projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (geologists, surveyors, environmental engineers, etc. ) to integrate project plans. Monitor the progress of mining operations and adjust plans based on project performance and evolving site conditions.

Safety And Compliance Ensure that all mining operations comply with relevant safety standards, local regulations, and environmental laws. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments, providing recommendations to improve safety performance. Develop and implement emergency response plans and lead investigations into accidents or incidents. Team Leadership And Mentoring Lead, mentor, and train junior engineers and other technical staff. Promote a collaborative and productive work environment while ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards. Cost And Resource Management Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring optimal use of resources and minimizing waste.

Develop cost-effective strategies to improve production efficiency and reduce operational costs. Operational Optimization Analyze and improve existing mining operations to increase efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance productivity. Identify and implement technological innovations or industry best practices to improve mining operations. Reporting And Documentation Prepare technical reports, presentations, and other documents for management, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders. Provide regular updates on the status of mining operations and project milestones. Mining Design & Planning Develop detailed mine plans and designs using specialized software, including extraction methods, ventilation plans, and equipment requirements.

Operational Management Oversee day-to-day mining activities, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to schedules. Safety & Compliance Ensure that mining operations comply with all safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and industry standards. Conduct regular safety audits and promote a safety-first culture. Cost Control & Budgeting Assist in preparing budgets for mining projects and monitor costs to ensure efficient use of resources. Surveying & Mapping Collaborate with surveyors to map and assess mining areas for resource extraction. Analyze geological data to inform mining strategies. Equipment Management Evaluate and select mining equipment, ensure regular maintenance, and optimize equipment performance to minimize downtime.

Environmental & Sustainability Practices Implement sustainable mining practices and ensure proper waste management, water treatment, and reclamation. Team Collaboration Work closely with geologists, environmental engineers, and other team members to ensure project success. Reporting & Documentation Maintain accurate records of mining operations, including progress reports, safety logs, and performance metrics. Qualifications/Skills And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Geology, or a related field. At least 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry and record-keepingWorking ConditionsPosition based at the OKO Project site.
