Our ProfileIn 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown. Security Monitoring OfficerThe Security Monitoring Officer is responsible for real-time surveillance and monitoring of the mine site using electronic security systems, including CCTV, alarms, and access control software.
The role is vital in detecting suspicious activity, ensuring compliance with access protocols, and supporting emergency response coordination. Key Responsibilities Monitor live CCTV feeds, alarm systems, and access control systems to ensure site security. Identify and report unauthorized access, safety violations, and suspicious activities. Maintain real-time logs of all significant incidents and escalate to the Security Lead or Supervisor. Respond promptly to alarms and coordinate with ground security officers for physical verification. Track and control access permissions using electronic systems for employees, contractors, and visitors. Perform routine checks to ensure all surveillance and monitoring equipment is functional.
Support emergency response efforts by providing camera footage and coordinating site communication. Record footage and maintain secure logs for incident investigations or legal review. Assist in the implementation and review of security protocols and standard operating procedures. Liaise with other departments (Operations, HSE, HR) to ensure consistent enforcement of site access policies. Qualifications/Skills And ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in security or surveillance preferred. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a security monitoring or control room role, preferably at a mine, industrial, or remote site.
Familiarity with CCTV, access control software, alarm systems, and radio communication proceduresAdditionalHigh attention to detail with the ability to detect irregular or suspicious behavior. Strong multitasking skills and ability to stay calm under pressure. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Technically competent with digital security systems and Microsoft Office tools. Strong ethics and commitment to confidentiality. Working ConditionsPosition based at the OKO Project site. Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days OffTransport, accommodations, and meals provided on site. Compensation Package1-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
