In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To Ensure The Achievement Of This Large-scale Project, G Mining Ventures Is Looking For An Experienced And Motivated Individual To Fill The Position OfTranslatorThe Spanish to English Translator will serve as a verbal interpreter between local employees and Spanish-speaking expatriates. The Translator is crucial in ensuring mutual understanding, especially during daily operations, safety briefings, and team meetings. Key Responsibilities Provide real-time verbal translation during conversations between Spanish-speaking expatriates and English-speaking local employees. Interpret discussions at team meetings, operational briefings, safety talks, training sessions, and informal interactions.
Assist in conflict resolution and cross-cultural communication in order to maintain a positive and productive working environment. Translate written correspondence, for example, work logs, daily instructions, memos, etc. Maintain discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times. Ensure clarity and accuracy while preserving the intent and tone of both parties. Qualifications/Skills And ExperienceFluence in both spoken and written Spanish and English (native or near-native proficiency in both languages required). Certificate or formal training in interpretation or translation is an asset.
Proven ability to perform consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation in dynamic, high-pressure environments such as team briefings, safety meetings, and operational discussions. Cultural competence and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and facilitate communication between diverse teams. Professionalism, discretion, and integrity in handling sensitive information and employee interactions. Strong listening, memory retention, and note-taking skills for accurate live interpretation. Familiarity with technical vocabulary related to mining, engineering, or heavy industry is strongly preferred. Working ConditionsPosition based at the OKO Project site.
