Operations Engineer (Infrastructure)

Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.OPERATIONS ENGINEER (CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE) As a member of the infrastructure engineering team, you will apply your knowledge, experience and creativity to help design, build, and activate some of the world’s most technically advanced manufacturing facilities. The Construction and Infrastructure Engineering team builds the machine that makes the machine, in this case the factory that builds the world’s most advanced rocket, engine and components. Process flow, machine moves, project planning and detailed department level metrics and dashboards all fall under the scope of this role. This role will deport directly to the department head and serve as the resource org-wide.ResponsibilitiesDevelop internal visual standards for internal work boards, JIRA queuing, PowerBI dashboards, and department workflowSupport department continuous improvement projects such as new process rollouts/standardizationIntegrate with all levels of the business to understand current workflows and identify systematic gapsDefine and develop department-level metrics & associated dashboards that quantify the health of our operations and influence changeConduct in-depth analyses through SQL queries and other data analysis methods to dive into problems and identify trends for decision making, following the rules of clear visual indicators and linear flowCreate reports, tools, and standardized metrics for operational measurements and improvementsDevelop automation that mitigates business risk or creates efficiencies within the SpaceX factoryConduct department wide operations audits that streamline the repair and maintenance and construction engineering teams Maintenance program enhancement – increase attention on poor-health hardware and descope unnecessary workImplement construction management or maintenance tools (software or hardware) to reduce wasted effort by engineers and techsSite services analysis to ensure smart spending on contracts such as custodial, utilities, waste, etc. and roadmap to improveBuild communication tools and reports targeted at factory workcell directors to improve communication and facilitate customer serviceStandardize material library and procurement process to reduce project lead timesDrive alignment with maintenance and construction teams at other SpaceX sites across the country to reduce duplicated workBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline2+ years of experience in operations/process improvement (internship experience qualifies)Experience with Excel, SQL, or PythonPreferred Skills And ExperiencePrevious experience working in a manufacturing, supply chain, or production environmentProficiency with statistics, data analysis, data visualization, and cost benefit analysisExperience with CAD software, ArcGIS, Archibus, Power BI, and JIRAFamiliarity with inventory, production, and capacity planning (including MRP/ERP systems)Experience with lean, six sigma, and other related production principlesExperience or education in management science and engineering, operations engineering, operations research, or industrial engineeringExperience as a contributor to multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teamsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and communication skillsAdditional RequirementsMust be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed, including occasional short-notice domestic travelCompensation And BenefitsPay range:Operations Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per yearOperations Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per yearYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
