We reward them with challenging work, opportunities to learn and grow, competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package and a supportive work environment where safety is our top priority.Position Summary: Responsible for supervising a maintenance team of bargaining unit employees in the planning, implementation, commissioning of industrial equipment and coordination of maintenance as directed by the Milling Manager. This position is required to routinely work nights, weekends, and holidays, be assigned as an emergency on-call supervisor, and subject to recall and mandatory overtime for stoppages.Essential DutiesAbide by and enforce all Company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, as well as all Company, Local, State and Federal Regulations relating to Health, Safety, Operations, etc.Develop staff through appropriate coaching, training, and discipline in order to build a cohesive team. Will be responsible for subordinate’s quality and quantity of work.Promote, monitor and enforce the safety program by conducting weekly safety meetings and other identified training requirements, and discipline violations of the safety program, in order to maintain and foster a safe working environment and comply with OSHA standards.Work closely with Team Leader to accomplish target grind rates, sucrose recovery, and reduce the potential for lost Milling time, as well as improve Milling performance, by coordinating operations with supporting departmental management. Monitor Lab results and make necessary changes to improve extraction and bag moisture.Supervise and direct the planned and preventative maintenance of all Milling equipment in a safe manner, using personal and professional mechanical knowledge and experience by managing material inventory and assigning repair work (planned/emergency) in coordination with department management and planners, using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Assist the Reliability Engineer in performing root cause analysis and investigation of mechanical failure, production loss, accident or injury.Coordinate with outside departments (Ag and Railroad) the daily production targets in reference to: the amount of cane needed for consistent operations; weather conditions; and maintenance and other operational issues.Use SAP to schedule work assignments, record and approve time, order materials, and maintenance planning and scheduling. Generate and review various reports.Train, coach, and motivate employees to conduct work assignments and accomplish goals in accordance with Operational Excellence and continuous improvement guidelines, with consideration for overall operating costs.Successfully participate in and complete all periodic Company designated safety training, supervisory and management skills training and/or certifications related to the position.Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise, evaluate, train and discipline Milling workers across diverse job categories, including, but not limited to, journeyman, multi-craft journeyman, machine operators, mechanics, equipment handlers, loaders, and laborers.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.5 years’ experience in Milling, Operations or Manufacturing with demonstrated leadership skills. Supervisory experience preferred.Operational proficiency in computers and software, with experience using basic spreadsheet functions of Microsoft Excel and SAP.Demonstrate operational knowledge of pumps, chain conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, turbines, gear boxes, sprockets, and other related equipment. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in order to comprehend instructions on the job and in the classroom, and to ensure personal and co-worker safety on the job.Demonstrate physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job; must be in good health and physically able to perform all phases of the work.Internal candidates must have good work record and disciplinary history, and positive results from Company-designated tests designed to measure basic skills, job skills, mechanical aptitude and/or other interests, skills and characteristics.New hires must pass a drug test and other pre-employment background screening, and successfully complete any required training or orientation course.Working Conditions80% of the work environment is conducted in an outdoor environment, exposed to heights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, and low lighting while wearing PPE (i.e.; hard hat, goggles, ear plugs, full-body suits, and respirators); working around wet or dripping, moving machinery with sharp edges; reaching above the head while crouching, standing, or laying prone; regularly climbing stairs or ladders, kneeling, crawling, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching overhead, and walking on uneven ground with slip and trip hazards.20% of the work environment is conducted while seated in an environmentally controlled atmosphere, facing multiple computer screens containing flashing colored lights, using repetitive motions with computer mouse and keyboards, routinely taking and receiving verbal instructions in person or over the radio.
